I got some good tips from this video, like making sure there's enough fuel so the engine doesn't suck up too much air (that was something i never thought of). Thank Duke.

Not necessary. What Duke fails to mention is that the fuel system is self priming. You should ALWAYS drain the fuel filter housing and clean it thoroughly, as he just dunked a brand new filter into dirty fuel.

As a carmechanic i can say that you should cover up the nearby powercables and connectors. Diesel as well as petrol is conductive, and you dont want to short anything. What we do, Almost regardless of what we do an any car is, we always disconnect the negative (-) on the battery. Keep in mind that petrol plus a spark is not always a good comnination. (diesel dont ignite that easely, but better safe than sorry)

***** excellent Jostein, thanks for that info-better safe than sorry and takes no time at all to disconnect that negative cable.

One more video ahead of the punching bag. Just a follow up to the drywall patch. Im shooting three to four videos ahead of release just in case I get really busy at work. And the punching bag comes with a personal story of why I made my first bag when I was 14. Thanks for being patient and thanks for being persistent.

Hey DIY Duke I have something else to throw at you. My brother has a 2006 Dodge 5.9 Cummins 3500. His grid heater light comes on regularly. He has replaced the computer both batteries, the alternator, made sure all the wires were correctly connected and not grounding out. Do you know what this could be? The truck is noticeably weaker when the light is on. But when its off it runs just fine. This is all what ive heard. Not my personal experience.

It could be the glow plugs. Just changed them on a Chevy diesel with 185,000 miles. If the glow plugs are glitching out might be interfering with combustion. That could explain the light coming on. Can you get a diagnostic check, sometimes they're pretty accurate. Some shops do it pretty reasonable; at least that is under $50.00.

+DIY Duke No glow plugs on the 5.9 buff dad, just a grid heater. Thought I'd comment for others working on troubleshooting the same issue. I'd say the lack of power is the grid heater coming on and heating the incoming air, decreasing the air density. Just like cooling the incoming air with an intercooler would increase power. You'll need to figure out what's causing the grid heater to cycle on incorrectly. Bad sensor possibly.
