Good video and I'm a huge fan and customer of Auto Doc. I would advise against lubricating wheel stud threads though (14:15), but it's certainly worth cleaning all threads before reassembly to ensure torque figures are accurate. In fact, a lubricated thread should have a lower tightening torque - usually 10%-30% lower. So, chances are that those wheel nuts are overtightened at 120nm (with lubrication). Also, be careful applying copper grease too liberally to nuts and bolts after assembly. While it seems logical, do remember that grease attracts dirt. Best to use a pressure washer to keep wheel arches clean.

Thanks, torque settings would be helpful, save time. The bellows over the exposed strut, is that part anchored with a zip-tie or? The tech obviously knew the way through this procedure however any suggestions for checking the upper and lower control arms while they are relaxed? I'm putting "new" in regardless...your presentation is appreciated...thanks again....my last job for Spring removal etc was 1978. Time flies.

You dont need to remove the upper control arm mounting plate!!! There are 2 plastic cover under AC lines... you unscrew 2 nuts from the top and struts come out.

I did it without removing the top upper control arm mounting plate, pretty sure it was from one of your videos that I did it. Did you change your way?

There are different torque specs in the subtitles than in actual video. I used the higher one and sheared a stud off my new strut before I even got there.

At 36-37. How do you know you install the upper strut mount in the correct angle? According to the Hayne's Book about my 2001 passat, it says the angle should be about 11 degrees - but they don't tell/show how I easily can make sure the angle is right.

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to make this kind of adjustment in garage conditions. Therefore, we recommend t contact the service center after replacing that to adjust the position of the wheels and the position of the upper support. Best Regards, Autodoc team

I had to remove the subframe bolt holding the front control arm. The control arm could then move up just enough to barely clear the rear control arm and work out the bolt.

Yeah that’s correct. It leaves the factory with the bolts fitted in the other direction.

Evo me,usput znas li kako se zove ovaj dio sto ima zeljezo i gumu na sebi sto dodje izmedju opruge i ove gore narandzaste gume, to mi je otislo a ne znam kako se zove a samo mogu naci ovaj odbojnik sto je na videu narandzasti
