How To Change A Saw Blade On A Table Saw | Without The Spanner When it comes to changing the blade in your table saw, there are a few ways this can be done. Obviously the easiest way to do it is using the supplied spanners that come with your saw. But what happens should you misplace your spanners? This video will show you some awesome table saw tips and tricks to remove your saw blade. Disclaimer: You should at all times carry out the replacement of saw blades to your table saws instructional manual. This is should only be done as a last resort. brilliant tip on the blade change, it's 2024 and I've got Dad's table saw but he's lost the spanners. I'll try your idea today.

I'm currently in an identical dilemma and you just saved me from spending another hour cutting a piece of scrap into a makeshift wrench. However, i feel the need to mention that it may not be safe to use this method to tighten or to use the blade you removed again. Ive heard rumors of the carbide blade tips flying off after stress being applied to them like that... But im still gonna do it in a minute. I'll probably put a few layers of gaff tape over the rod i use to protect the blade. Cheers!

I ended up making a wrench from scrap metal... I was too nervous about ruining a brand new blade. 😂

Chico Smith I hold the blade with a towel while I loosen the nut. The secret is to maintain your equipment often enough so maintenance issues are never a problem.

@@Assimilator702 I introduce new people to my shop frequently enough to have a constant expectation of at least one of my old junky tools failing due to user error every week. it keeps me on my toes keeping an eye out for good deals regularly, though.

I was trying to turn the nut the wrong way. An angle grinder tightens in the direction of the blade spinning, that way the blade never comes lose during usage. I figured a table saw was the same way. It's gonna b hard to tighten it again without the spanner, tho. Now I'm worried when I put the new blade on it won't b tight and could come lose during usage. Sort of... Strange... Unless I am missing something??

Unsure buddy, you will have to check your saws manual. This trick is purely to get you out of a bind, you should always use the correct spanners to unlock and tighten the nut.

I dnt have the open spanner, and when I turn the arbor nut the whole rod twists as well.
