Had the oil filter housing replaced on my audi a4 2007. Noticed the coolant reservoir level went down. It was over the max level and when I checked it the next day it was lower than the minimum level. It had not done that before the oil filter housing was replaced. Could it be a related issue, that perhaps something was moved at the time of the other part being replaced? What can I do to fix this issue?

Nice video.....can I ask a question? The question is my Audi currently has oil in the coolant system and the mechanic I have repair my car said its not the oil cooler, turbo, oil cooler flange and something else but I forget......he thinks it's the head gasket, but the oil is fine zero color ,the oil cap is clean and the engine runs fine never getting hot.

@alaudi3317
6 жыл бұрын
This guide is missing a ton of important information. G12 coolant does not come premixed. You must mix it 50/50 with distilled water. You will need to open the bleed valve on the top of the coolant hard line and let it burp the air out. Or you will have massive air pockets in your cooling system. Bad for your engine and turbo! Last step is to burp the end of the cooling system at the top heater core hose.
@leosapien5979

Thanks for the info. Is there a way you can add a pic of the bleed valve on the top of the coolant hard line. Sorry for the ignorance, I just want to make sure I got the correct one in order to flush the system correctly. I'd appreciate it.

This has been the worst description on how to bleed the system I’ve ever seen. Let’s not forget that you have two bleeder holes generally. On on the heater core hose and one on the hardline that runs parallel to the fuel rail. These cars don’t self bleed well you have to rev it up to about 2k for a couple of minutes to allow all the air to escape.

You need to turn tap through 90degrees anti clock, pull tap out then turn further 90 degrees. I ended up using a pick up the nozzle to get the tap to initially pop then a flat blade behind tap to get it to pull out to second pozn

gfult001 coolant has to be flushed several times before....cus if u flush it once and right away and be done with it ur gonna get that old coolant and new coolant mixed causing color change......now if u flush several time before actually being done with it, it will come out all pink....so think of it as a rainboe chart starting from old coolant to new pink coolant....having a clear party cups help to see each flush u do that way u know ur system is all pinkd up
@petkoandreev7869
5 жыл бұрын
If you are switching from green to pink coolant or vice versa you (it is always a good practice to flush it distilled water) have to drain as much as you can from the system and fill with distilled water close all caps and run the system for couple minutes. Drain and refill with distilled water again and flush. After that drain the system and pour concentrate coolant (you already have water ) and measure the coolant with a tool to see what is the range of operable temperature. Drain some if needed and add some concentrate until the desired mixture is achieved.

This is a very incomplete video.Draining as shown will release approx 2.5 litres of water, leaving about another 4 or 5 litres plus, in the engine. You have to undo an allen screw at the rear of the engine to release the rest. This is just above the rear of the mounting structure on the rear/left corner of the engine. There is a very small groove pressed into the mounting bracket to facilitate getting an allen key into the drain plug. Its about 6mm or maybe slightly less screw.

Like an idiot I put oil in my coolant reservoir and I have been driving it like that for awhile. what im wondering is that after I do a flush on my system will there be damage from the oil at all or will it be fine
@1AAuto
8 жыл бұрын
+Greg Kamra Ouch. I bet that was a harsh realization to come to. Well, I've never actually seen that happen before. Here's how I'd handle it. I'd thoroughly drain the system, then flush it through with some quality cooling system cleaner (no recommendations, unfortunately. Do a little research on this end), and then flush it. You may need to repeat the cleaning, can't hurt to do it a couple times. I'd then probably replace the thermostat as the oil/coolant mix could create a sludge which would keep it from working properly. I'd also look into replacing any of the coolant temp. sensors as they may not function correctly anymore either. Really sorry to hear this happened to you! It's such a bummer when you make that kind of mistake. But take solace in the fact that you're not the first to do it, and you definitely won't be the last haha Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com?KZitem&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393

+Faze Pico Thanks for checking us out! We would recommend bringing the fluid back up to right under the max line to be safe when making long trips. @_Ambition124

That's why they recommend leaving the vehicle on for 15 to 20 minutes so the cooling system can get rid of any air trapped in the system... leaving the heat on high and fan setting low allows the coolant to travel throughout the whole system thus ensuring the air bubbles get released through the top of the coolant tank
