Ninja 250 Motorcycle Maintenance Actually im curious about that too, my ninja has like 19000 miles and im pretty sure shes thirsty for valve adjustion, also my exaust pipes at the very beggining are different colours im not sure is that normal but left one is way too birned compared to the right one which is just like the rest of the exaust.

I will upload a valve adjustment video in the next three or four weeks (hopefully), but if you have a year previous to 2008-2012, the engine is a different design. Many things will be useful, but there will be differences, especially regarding the engine.

Thanks so much for your extremely thorough video. I feel a lot more confident performing this on my bike now as it sorely needs it. I do have a question though: would performing the flush with only distilled water be about as effective as using a vinegar/distilled water mix? Thanks in advance.
@ninja250motorcyclemaintena7
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback! I don't really know how the results would compare. The most important thing is to make sure that you don't keep the pure water (or vinegar solution) in the system for too long. I kept it in the system for a couple of days (only for the purpose of making this video) and it rusted the system pretty badly.
@MsRandomness

Super! I would like to do a carb video, but don't know when. What type of coolant did you use? I've been thinking about trying Evan's coolant--contains not water--because I've been finding a lot of rust in my system.

I used Prestone 50/50 Coolant. It's worked fine in both mine & my wife's cars, so I figured it'd be fine for the 250R, too. If you do the carb cleaning vid, I'll forever be grateful to you. I don't want to pay the local mechanic $180+ for the work!

Anyway while riding my ninja 250 2009 and short light is on when i switch to long light short one dowsnt turn off so both are running and when i switch back to short long ones are off keeping only short light turned. im not sure whats going on as previous owner was def customizing it way too much...
@ninja250motorcyclemaintena7

I believe the short one (low beam) is always on and the long one (high beam) only turns on when you flip the switch.

I use O'Reilly's premixed universal coolant because it is a fourth of the price of motorcycle coolant. Many motorcyclists use regular car coolant. It should be fine, as long as it is okay for aluminum engines and contains no silicates or phosphates which damage the water pump.

Why does your voice change so much throughout the video?
@ninja250motorcyclemaintena7
5 жыл бұрын
I was using a crappy voice recorder on my phone and for some reason it kept picking up popping noises, so I tried to redo a lot of it, which gave it an incoherent feel. The voiceover was my least favorite part of these videos, which you can probably tell listening to it. I have a different audio setup now and have improved quite a bit.

Anyone ever do anything like cut the tab on the reservoir that the hose and clutch cable routes through? Maybe replace it with a DIY routing tab that can easily be opened and closed? I wouldn't imagine that the tab is absolutely integral to the function of the clutch cable....???

Yeah removing the clutch cable seemed a bit odd for coolant change, coolant looked really clean too. Probably would have just done a drain and fill. But this video was pretty educational and loooong
