I don’t know who’s been telling these guys to pour oil in the filter that is not needed. You just have to lubricate that rubber seal that’s it. Stick your finger in the jug. Get it wet rub it around the entire seal make sure the whole thing is coated that’s all.😳🙄🤨

Personal experience was that I had to do that on old push-rod engines, I would start up the engine after and oil change and the oil light would come on for about 30 seconds. Fill the filter and it wouldn't come-on.
@allenperkins5098

It's not needed, but it also doesn't hurt. Honestly I've forgot to wet the ring and never had one leak either but I always dab the ring with oil and put a splash in the can. It does shorten the amount of time to build oil pressure on that first start up by a couple seconds... Not that you'd damage the engine in that time but if you did it every time for years...MAYBE? LOL

So I saw that when you pulled the filter off it was leaking from the splash guard closer to the wheel that’s no Bueno for my driveway and I have to put a big piece of cardboard down. I hate splash guards.
