Thanks for the information. It was spot on and I successfully replaced the cabin air filter, but MAN OH MAN, whoever designed the place to put that filter was either an idiot, masochist, or shill for Volvo for the pricey cost you will have to pay Volvo mechanics to replace the filter! And what a tight place! I needed some specialty tools to reach the nuts and cut my left arm up. Could Volvo possibly have any fat mechanics? I doubt it. All the lower drivers side paneling off and had to take the damn accelerator assembly apart. Fricking Ridiculous!

The Ford designer who designed this should be put into jail. It took me more than a year of trying to remove this filter. Why? The wing nut in my car was replaced with a regular wrench nut (like 9mm) so I had to use a special wrench which fits this place (I bought the wrench just because of this). But even the wrench wasn't enough to remove the nut, because the shape of the nut wasn't perfect. I had to keep unscrewing it with my fingers for like an hour before the screw finally went out. Then it was possible to remove the filter even without removing the accelerator pedal, but you need to remove it if you want to put a new filter back in. Otherwise you risk that you make a hole into the new filter. And DO NOT put any screw back in. Just place the plastic cover back and then cover it with your carpet. It is going to hold in place. Otherwise it will be worse than your worst nightmare to remove it when you want to replace the filter again... Pre-Ford era Volvos had the filter accesible in like 10 seconds. But here? It is actually 100 times easier to change oil filter (which is also a lot harder than usuall) than this freaking pollen filter. I would rather change all the brakes including both brake pads and rotors than change this filter again...

If you own a 2013 C70, I can save you some time. You'll need 10mm wrench, 10mm socket, ratchet, extensions and a shop vac. Don't waste your time removing the dash trim, it doesn't help in getting the job done in fact, you risk doing damage to the trim pieces. If you can disconnect the gas pedal it will save you some frustration, if not, you can still manage to get the job done. Remove the three nuts holding the pedal in place, remove the winged white screw, push the cover towards the front of the car, remove filter, and suck dirt out with shop vac.

Ok, just put the new filter in, first it appeared that I would have no way of getting it in, but determination prevailed, I had to put my left hand on top of the fuse box and bend the new filter in a massive way, basically force it, don't worry it gets back to shape, you really need to force it....after bandaging my fingers, lol, I'll go put everything together. Took me 45min to figure out what to o and remove old filter, mostly because it took me a while to get the 13mm nuts out. Putting the new filter is a nightmare if you are not forceful but only took me some 10min, let's see how long to put all things back and without any damage. what a stupid place to put a pollen filter, I couldn't even take a photo of the inside so I could vacuum it, I suspect the vacume wouldn't even get in there, after watching several videos I think rhd cars is even more difficult than lhd cars. Cheers.

Hi. Thank you for you comments! No, the BMW e46 for instance is even smaller, just as safe and the cain air filter is right under the hood, replacing it takes 10 seconds. This is what you get when a company wants to make maintenance as difficult as possible.
@mrfixpl
5 жыл бұрын
How can you say that E46 is as safe as C30? Both NCAP and IIHS didn’t even tested e46 against most collisions since it was designed in 1998, when those test were not even considered.
@adamjingly36
5 жыл бұрын
Mate, the paper cabin filter being extremely difficult to access behind the gas pedal as opposed to under the hood has no effect on the safety of the car whatsoever. The only reason they did that was so the majority of people would service the car at the dealership and bring them more $$$$. If they wanted to they could have easily put a small door on the passenger side so you could replace it yourself in 10 seconds, but they didn't because they want that cash, just like Apple did with their iPhone batteries.
