I bought an 04 Sunfire for $800. Has 157000 miles on it and runs great. Just installed a cold air intake a few weeks ago and will be changing the spark plugs next week. Your videos are awesome, thanks!!

Did my 03 Sunfire plugs this morning. 3 plugs came out easily but had a real hard time with 1. Eventually came out, was scared to really force it for fear of breaking. Soaked it a bit with oil, was so glad when it released. Great video, was a real help!!

Thanks for reply, they were in there for a good nine years at least. Iridiums, they still looked good. It’s almost like they need to be removed every 5 years, just so they don’t become seized. Especially if you keep cars a long time, like I do.

yea with fuel injected you dont need to change plugs as often either like old carbs. a bit of antiseize would help but im not sure how long its good for. i changed plugs in my g8 v6 and had a few that was kinda seized i had to tap the ratchet a few times, to finally get them loose.
@bradyakubovic2550

I needed a longer 3/8 ratchet to get more leverage but didn’t have one. If I ever do them again, which I doubt I will, I’ll give them a spray of lube before fully taking them out. I put double platinum AC Delco plugs in it. They are a great little motor, if you maintain them.

@@bradyakubovic2550 yea you may not have too change them again since they last so long, those engines do last awhile and really well with good upkeep, even ones with low upkeep do well

I changed mine and unfortunately didn't have a long enough extension. Thankful for good friends!! Make sure you have a spark plug socket with an extension, you'll need it ..😂

Hey Terry, on your Sunfire, did you ever have to access the fuel pump in the gas tank? My dad has an '04 Sunfire and he didn't drive the car for a few months, went out to start it but couldn't. Opened the gas cap and you could smell old gas. He pulled the back seat but there was no hole to access the fuel pump/sending unit. Not sure if he has to drop the gas tank instead. Just curious if you've had to access your pump/sending unit yet.

only had the sunfire a few months now, havnt had to do that yet. im going to wanna say that odds are you have to drop the tank unless there is access under the spare tire, or pull up the carpet under the trunk

Hey i have an 04 sunfire and I was driving it and all of a sudden it stopped when i was at a light. No warning signs or nothing. Not it cranks but wont start. Do you think this can be because of bad sparkplugs?
@EfurdGarage
2 жыл бұрын
You should have noticed lack of power or perfomance as the plugs got weak. It could be several things unfortunately. Without seeing it in person its though to say, could be a simple sensor or wire all the way to timing

Had the same issue in a McDonald's drive thru that shit was embarrassing, anyway ive been having problems with the battery terminals, and when it happened i knew it was the terminals, least to say i just had to jiggle my positive one for it to come back on, these cars take side post batteries, and they are super easy to strip if ur not careful
@cecpit1pitcock830

Shouldn’t you put anti seize on plug threads?
@EfurdGarage
Жыл бұрын
I do not. Never had an issue. Most plugs are installed without antiseeze. Becuase the anti seeze will alter the torque vaule. Increasing the risk of thread breaking or stretch. Plugs today have a coating to protect agaist galling and corrosion
