Been grinding for 16 years now. Good job explaining changing and flipping. Looks like you’re missing a set of deflectors. I’m keeping a Morbark 1200 XL tub loaded as I watch this. Keep up the good work.

I torque mine to 450 ft lbs Reverse the tub to get the wood out always. Nice video ! Ran one of those for years. Get a Vermeer 7000 with a grapple for mass production or a Diamond Z 1463B for the monster tub

Thank you for the video. Do you weld hard face on your wear plates, hammers, teeth, or even rings? Also how much play is ok from your hammer to your rods? I’m getting ready to buy my first machine

That's the little one inch impact. I have one and it doesn't really have any more power than my 3/4. With a 3/4 Milwaukee and no adapter you will get the bolt tighter. Or get a one inch drive socket and get the big 1 inch d handle gun that will really get them tight. I have both the little one inch gun like that and the bigger d handle version and there is no comparison. Either way though love the videos

When you have a bad hammer like that i use an old tip it will stay on longer and not loosen up its less aggressive but it's better than wasting a new tip

Very interesting, those grinders take a beating. One video shows a tub grinder shredding pallets, which are loaded with nail, another video shows where a rebar was in with some logs. You must have to keep on hand a truck load of new teeth to keep that machine running.

Do you repair the teeth or send them back to be repaired? I worked for a company that had a hogzilla grinder (which looks the same as this one) and I would weld the teeth back up and weld the carbide bits back into them.

You can’t weld carbide

And people ask why is it so expensive to clear there land. If they only new what we go threw keeping equipment running just to operate and the cost of it , they would have a different out look on it.

Lord the fuel this thing burns per day is equivalent to a small grading crew

Exactly people ask why daily grinding rates are so expensive. They have no idea the cost of maintenance on these things and the cost of fuel. I have a 5600 horizontal and 1300 tub.

Putting an insert back onto that hammer is criminal. It needs to be either built up with welding, or replaced.. The end ring on the conveyor side of the mill is so worn down that the rod retainer ring is completely exposed. The horse collar plates on the tub are so far gone that it has caused material to get between the mill and the side. That aside. Using a payloader knuckle without a bucket on, a 6' chain, and a snatch hook is the easiest way to swap screens. 20 minutes usually, and better visibility than using an excavator.
