Especially important is your note about the 2nd drain. Mine had about 1/2 cup of water in it. Thank you so much for making this as it was extremely helpful.

Thank you so much. This is not a straight forward job and thank you for the info about the water ingress into the intake! Our recently purchased touregs filter was wet and crumbling! I fashioned a pick and cleared the drain and 8 to 10 oz of water drained onto the pavement. You might have saved us the cost of a turbo! Thank you so much!!!!

This Touareg appears to be almost new. But it might be more than 12 years old!

I wonder if you drilled a drain hole in the bottom of that air box to drain that water if that would mitigate it more than using the every few thousand mile "tool" that you developed. A passive vs reactive method. But either way great video.

Is there any merit in an after market alternative/ replacement? The standard air box system seems very flawed.Especially if it could end in a catastrophic engine failure

I would be wary of any aftermarket option that doesn’t incorporate a closed air box - and I’ve never seen one like that.

How is your engine compartment so clean? I inherited my 2015 TDI, and I haven't yet gotten up the nerve to tackle cleaning under the hood

Good question. I bought the car just over 2 years ago from a used car dealer who I presume cleaned it before I bought it. It somehow stayed clean until very recently - now it looks terrible.
