Make sure to start your truck and let it warm up for a little while before checking your oil level. Also, always check for leaks.

Don't forget 2 use a funnel so U want have spilled oil all over ur engine & on ur drive way floor

You forgot to Start the engine then check for leaks... Shut down let sit for a few minutes...Recheck oil level... Thanks for putting yourself out there for everyone to offer some advice.

Started using a little Vaseline about 15 years ago and will never use oil again for filter gasket. Night and day difference next time you change oil.

Drill a hole in the bottom of your old filter before you remove it. Less mess when it drains a little.

Replace the plug’s gasket. The GM gasket is 12616850 for anyone looking for it. It’s $4-5 but it’s OEM, better than a leak!

Bolt seemed to take 15mm socket but was welded on so tight it wouldn't budge and then stripped when i used my drill.

@@johnmarcustaylor if you had a shop change your oil previously, they probably used an impact driver to tighten it. I never use impact drivers or drills to loosen anything or tighten anything if possible. A good, long handled wrench or a steel pipe slid onto a wrench will prevent a lot of stripped bolts.

@@mikehoncho7165a little oil drippings can be wiped but if you don’t have surgeon hands then a funnel would definitely help. I mean you probably didn't hear about it because I went under the name of Mike Honcho. But I just wanted you to know that. If you can hear me, if it got into your brain somehow. That I spread my buttcheeks as Mike Honcho.

@@cbiii Tighten it well by hand and it won’t. It has a rubber seal on it that helps keep it from getting loose. I’ve never had an issue.
