Yet that apex is racking up double the ammount of miles. Maybe triple the ammount of miles as your old 2 stroke. Not having to worry about an engine rebuild every 5k to 10k miles.

@@edwardabrahamiii3742yamaha 2 strokes are practically 10k mile guaranteed though. People have pushed 20k on the old yamaha triples. I've got 11k on one of my 01 srx 700s. Our old vmax dx 600 and our first exciter 2 sx 570 lasted just under 13k miles and still ran when we got rid of em.🤷

Another good thing to do is get rid of that foam and put a 20 size battery instead of the 14. Fits nicely and gives extra starting juice on those cold days.

great video. yamaha states chain tension is in finger tight and back off one turn then lock it otherwise it'll stretch the chain. i've got 32000km on 2011 apex same chain and gears in it with regular maintenance , still look like new. bought a used 2017 sidewinder this fall, not even close to being the same fit and finish that's for sure. kept the apex as a back up or if i don't like the winder then i'll go back to it

I was thinking that myself. I wondered if such a product existed. Maybe yamaha built it this way to force the owner to check that solenoid because they knew it was a weak point.

Nice one! I have a 2011 APEX with 20 Thousand Miles, still runs great! I've done all my own maintenance from when I was a Teenager! I service PowerSports in my retirement for people I know. Once I switched to a 4 Stroke (2004 Warrior) I have not looked back! When i purchased a 2023 Sidewinder LTX GT EPS last year, I was a bit annoyed with all of the potential issues, so I went ahead and installed the Driveshaft Expander and I tack welded the screw on the Chain Tensioner. Will still have to check the Top Gear and those shift fork pads? Arctic Cat quality!!!!!

Great video interesting to see what a apex protocols look like for service.. for sure more work than needed Lol...I think at that point I would have changed the spark plugs as they likely are originals...I know my yamacat I do them every other year when doing the oil..just so I dont need to worry about it happening on the trail and being out of luck

it would make it alot easier but you wouldn't be able to get the oil that's in the motor out I don't think, you'd still have to drain the motor plug. 🍻

Do you have to prime the oil pump after you change the oil? I know other units with the dry sump type system you have to prime it.

It’s really not that bad to do the oil change. In my manual it says you don’t have to change to oil filter every oil change. Also under the oil tank there is a hose it has a screen in it that you should clean every once in a while.

Yet the apex will not mix gas just change the oil once or twice a year depending on how much you ride. And no buying injection oil everytime you go to gas up.

Why is the apex so bad on oil changes!? 2005 rs rage takes 10 minutes. But I suppose the 4cyl doesn't line up nice with the skid plate?

this one was an 07 and the little hose on the left side (standing in front of the sled looking at it) by the starter solenoid plugs almost straight up on the bottom of the air box. I'm not 100% sure if the 09 is the same though..🍻

Remeber filter change is recommended at 12,000 MILES not KM. Dump the easy tank and sump under there and done!
