Whenever you visit a website from a browser on ChromeOS or any other device you need access to a DNS server. This all happens in the background and you may not even be aware that a DNS server exists.
By default, your Chromebook will use the DNS server provided by your internet service provider (ISP). Although these DNS servers should generally be safe to use, your provider may use a third-party server that you have no relationship with.
This video will show you how to check your DNS server on ChromeOS to make sure the connection is secure. I'll also show you other third-party DNS servers you can use such as Google.
