Thank you for this video! Made the job quick & painless. I ended up taking the rear seat/ferring off & removed the gas tank to make filling the fluid easier & well as giving access to the in-line filter from above as well. Not necessary but only added a couple minutes to the job.

The manufacturers always seem to put those fill tubes in the most awkward places! I like your solution to that issue. Thanks for the video.

Thanks man, it worked...if not well🤣. I overloaded it twice and had a clean-up on the back aisle there. Filling the Hydraulic fluid on the 322 and related series is the worst. The filler tube itself is so small, it takes like 10 minutes to put 5 quarts in. This one despite the position, wasn't half bad, but agreed, why there?? Thanks for watching as always.

@@FloridaDeere I couldn't find any funnel that would easily fit in that awkward location. Went down to auto parts store and they had a "funnel" that would hold a quart with a flexible tube on the end - so flexible it kink when I tried to put it in the filler tube. So I placed some plastic tubing (like they use to hold and route wiring) and that combination worked like a charm. No leaks while filling. Took 2 people, though. One to hold the contraption and one to fill and refill the quart-size container on the end. Still, it was very easy. THAT task was only about 2-3 mins.

@@woodyandrews2340 Well, i'm happy that part went fast since you kind of got hosed on the green filter section of the change-over. I just dumped some oil on the top of the engine on my 322 not paing attention to how slow it was going in. I guess the valve cover got overwhelmed, so then I had to clean the engien off, what a pain, all because I took my attention off the fill point for a second or two.🤦♂

I bought my 325 used through a local dealer. They never serviced it before selling it! I found a mouse nest complete with dead mouse in the air filter. When I complained, the manager offered me a free service kit. I accepted, but I said I wanted those trans filters and new oil too. I wish I had seen this video prior to that service!

Thanks man, I appreciate that, but I'm sorry you went through that ordeal. There are good dealers and there are bad dealers, I find that to be true with John Deere as well as Ford and I would bet, nearly all manufacturers' dealers sadly. Before I sell any of my flips, they usually go through a full service. I think I get more for them that way, I feel better about it and that's how I make these videos. Great video. I actually had my Seat deck off due to changing my Main drive belt so I took advantage and changed my trans oil and filters. I have to say it made all so easily accessible, I will pull the seat deck next time I service the fluid and filters. The deck is literally 4 bolts and disconnecting the seat kill switch wire bundle.

Hey thanks for referencing this vid, it helped a lot with my own process in changing the gear oil on my GT 275 which in fact does have only one filter in the rear (cylindrical) but easy to get to. I didn't need to drop the deck, but I still may do it just to finish cleaning under there, it's a great spot for collecting all kinds of junk and the pressure sprayer comes in handy here. Great video!

Thanks for your kind words. You are right, these things over time do have a tendency to collect an awful lot of material and most people don't do regular cleaning. I try to hit them at least once per year. Take the pan off, lift the tank and spray it all down or at the very least remove my belly pans on the 322's. Thanks for watching.

I have a 325 that I bought new back in 1995. Thought I needed to change the transmission fluid, since I don't think it has been changed since new. Back filter replacement and draining the fluid was easy. HOWEVER, I ran into several issues with wrench sizes on changing the green filter, not to mention how tight the nuts were on the "original". Access was very tight. I couldn't get the bolts loose by myself; had to get some help. Than we had to put quite a bit of leverage on the nuts. Took us 3 hrs just to get the green filter out (found out it was original JD filter, BTW, but the wrench sizes on that filter were not the ones you recommended).
@FloridaDeere

Sorry about your troubles, I thought I got the wrench size right, but I could have been wrong. Seems like Deere likes to change stuff early and often as well, but I can't imagine changing something like that. I thought it went pretty easy. It's hard to tell if mine was original or not. It was 900+ hours but I can see how people would be detered on that project after pricing filters, those things are crazy pricey. Thanks to watching.

Now I'm a day smarter. Removed the new green filter and found that the inset O-ring was missing on the upstream end. Must have worked it's way out while trying to tighten down the oil line fitting. Tight working space there. Recommend jacking up the tractor to be able to get underneath and have both hands to line up and snug down the fitting. So can now safely assume that the O-rings shown in the manual are the ones that came inset with the green filter and are all the O-rings needed. Bought the tractor 2 years ago and just got around to changing the transmission oil. Surprised me to see that the old green filter had a manufacture date of 09/96, so now with 1382 hours on the tractor it's likely that this is the first transmission oil change the tractor has seen.

Sometimes a day smarter is all we need. I will sometimes check out the manual if I have one handy. Often I don't always get the benefit of doing that. It doesn't surprise me about the man. date on the filter, I suspect that many will be that way. The 322 I just got had the yellow transmission filter on it and it's been some time since they used those. Not sure if it was original, but it may have been, who knows. The good thing is you are doing it now and will have fresh fluid. Changing that tractor's filters are the most expensive L&G or SCUT tranny change O can think of off hand. No doubt that had something, maybe small factor in why people don't change them. Thanks for watching.

Listener from Minnesota, my mower deck no longer goes up or down. Could my filters be plugged? The transmission works good. Maybe my linkage?

Does the hydrostatic whine when you try to make it go up or down? I mean if the transmission is fine, it's likely the lift is fine too unless there is a specific blockage in one of the lines going to the lift cylinder. Let me know and thanks for watching.

Just went through all your steps on a 345. Went through all your well laid out steps and it went just as you demonstrated except that I found an O-ring on the floor under the in-line filter after attaching the new one. The manual shows 2 O-rings, one on either end, and I thought maybe they were the ones already inset in both ends of the green filter since new ones were not included in the new JD filter box. Now looking like it fell out of one end or the other of the oil line screw downs, and that now I need to take the green filter off again and replace the O-rings that live inside the oil line screw downs. Did you deal with these O-rings?
@FloridaDeere

I honestly can't remember that aspect of the maintenance. I don't recall any O-rings that I dealt with.

I just noticed my gt235 was leaking after its been sitting for about a month. I looked into it and it turns out to be leaking from the trans bypass shaft. I'm replacing what they call Packing O-rings. My trans is kept pretty clean, so it was easy to find the leak.
