I did extraordinarily well by investing 100% C fund maximizing agency matching for 30 years, riding out each recession by continuing to contribute rain or shine. If I was to do it all over again, I would switch allocations to 50% C fund - 50% G fund once the S&P 500 surges up 20%, and switch back to 100% C fund once the S&P 500 goes -20% bear market. I call it my Lather, Rinse, Repeat allocation plan. Looking at my historic data, I would have doubled or tripled my gains. It sounds simple, i.e. sell high and buy low, but in reality it is hard to sell when the market is soaring, and hard to buy when the market is cratering. But these are the best times to make these moves. The market tends to correct back to an exponential trend line. Right now the market is up 17% ytd, but still below the trend line. I am thinking that once the S&P 500 hits a new all time high to activate the 50%/50% allocation to mitigate the next downturn.

I’m coming up on 2 years in and my first full year in I did 9% contribution + 1% match with 100% of it the L2060 fund because I knew I was going be in a very hectic first year and didn’t know if I’d have a lot of time to pay a ton of attention to my TSP. 2021 I made 18.18% return on investment with 100% going into L2060. I’m very hesitant to move my allocations to a more 65/35 C/S fund split because of how well I did with L2060 and I’ll be on deployment coming up shortly and know I won’t be able to access my account often at all. Should I just let it ride being at 18.18% is an amazing return or should I move to a more aggressively

Or move to a more aggressive investment model and let that ride during deployment? I also will have a much higher monthly contribution being I’ll be pulling deployment money and Cali BAH.

Just depends on your personal risk tolerance. If you're not wanting to mess with it, L2060 isn't a bad choice. If you want to keep tabs on it over the years, go more agressive while you're young.

Paying tax on military starvations wages ain’t nothing. Paying no tax on four million dollars is smart investing

Pay taxes on your military salary instead of the investment gains made in your regular NON Roth TSP. Chose the Roth TSP
