Everyone came here for the last 10 seconds of advice. They should definitely watch the first 7 minutes though. Not a second was wasted

Will the 210 be enough for welding 3/8” up to occasionally 1/2” mild steel?

There are quite cheap and portable 185 to 200 amp mig welders. Can i run such a machine from a normal household socket or do i need to install special higher amp sockets?

Like the man said you can ...but you won’t get the full max from your machine and your breaker will most likely trip if it’s a 15 amp breaker 😉

There are ~$300 machines available on Amazon in US which are 110/220V gas-capable, SYN, claim to weld aluminum, copper, stainless steel. Do you have any experience with those?

Hi, I live in the UK and we only have one voltage and that is 240 volts, to get 120 volts we would need to run a converter, not a tool many have. so we use 240 volts as normal. Your wire ratings are different also, you have 14/2 wire, as we have 3.5/2 wire ( this is 3.5 mm wide wire with 2 covered wires and 1 bare copper wire. capable of running on a 20amp circuit) I don't know what size your wire is?.

14ga is 1.5mm and 12ga is 2.0mm. 3.5mm diameter wire is roughly 7ga. BTW there is more to it than diameter.

Here in the UK, 240v is domestic single phase which most welders use. When you get to welders with 300A+ output, 3 phase at 415/440v is usually required which many industrial premises do have but is an expensive option to have installed at home.
