First chose the Fenix A320, but recently purchased the PMDG 737-800. So the last couple days learning the 737. Really enjoy airliners.

I have just discovered your material and it was a huge happy surprise. Just the pedagogical approach that the new (or recently returned) pilots need… and considering the Xbox simmers… absolutely great. Thank you!… I consider to enter in community subscription 👍🏻

I recommend starting with fbw a320 as its free and easy to learn. If you want to learn more on the A320 then definitely the Fenix. If not go with the PMDG. After that, to have a bit of a learning curve try out the A310 as it’s slightly more “manual” for flying. Finally, for a more challenged experience, definitely try out the BAE146 or F28 (I prefer the F28) as it is a lot more challenging without glass cockpit and can get you familiar with VOR-VOR flying

I like that approach, especially going from the 320 to 310. I'd probably learn the 737 before trying the 146 or F28 though.

@@FlightSimSchool yes I agree. Probably best to get the 737 before getting on with the more challenging ones. I’d say the BAE and Fokker resemble the 737 more than the A320

The A310 is the best of modern, legacy and simulation. Simple enough to understand the core of airliners but still needs a learning curve

You select the A310 as the best to start with, when it has the most complicated operation of any default aircraft and is the ONLY one where you HAVE to start from cold and dark to operate it properly? Yes,you read that right. If you start ready to go on the runway, you can't program the FMC properly because it will NOT let you access the second page of the INIT menu once the engines are running (and there is not a single tutorial or official instruction for this plane ANYWHERE that actually tells you that).
@FlightSimSchool

I’ve got a few tutorials that start from the runway using the panel state. it’s normal to not be able to access init b when the engines are running, but you can still set most of those values from the fuel pred and prog pages though. Hope that helps!

Very interesting, thanks Marc! I've only tried airliners in the discovery missions, laid back with an xbox controller and sight-seeing. I love bush flying with quirky and unique GA planes, I'd like to get my feet wet with airliners to explore the world from higher up (and over longer distances), but I just haven't found a way in yet. Sounds like the A310 might be a good way to start, merci de l'info :)

I've been flight simming since the 90s, and I only picked up airliners for the first time in 2021 with the FBW. It never really appealed to me before, but once you get a taste for it, you quickly get hooked! Bonne fin de semaine :)

I really want to start with a Boeing but I don't have the deluxe or whatever edition so the only one available is the 747, which is pretty overkill I think for starting out and flying "short" routes. For the third party ones I really like the 737 but I don't know it they are gona work properly on my pc performance wise since they recommend a 2080 to a 3080ti. I'm lost...

I’d go with the 74 since you know it works. I’ve seen them do plenty of short repositioning flights IRL (

@@FlightSimSchool I guess I have no other choice than going with the 747, but I still don't get why the hardware requirement is so high for the 737. That's a real bummer. Thank you for the response.

I'd recommend the FBW A320 if you want to go freeware, the Horizon 787-9 is ok but it still is missing a fair bit of systems modeling.

The best for me was Asobo's A320neo, then I moved to FBW and PMDG 737. For take off and landing, the bush trips and landing challenges helped me a lot as you get to practise with different aircraft!

The H-Jet or the Vision Jet, and the Citation are good transition aircraft to move up to something faster, however, the avionics in the narrow and wide body airliners are fairly different from those. It does still help a bit, but it's a very different feel moving to even a small airliner like the 737.

Hi Marc Another very useful video. Thanks. Couldn’t you show in one of your next videos the controller bindings for the 737 and the airbus ? Christian
@FlightSimSchool

Thanks! I didn't show my control bindings mostly because everyone has different peripherals, so it's really best to look up a video specifically on that topic for your specific peripherals that you use. I might make a video on how I've configured the Honeycomb at some point, but there are already a ton of those around.
