For 2 euros, I wouldn't expect much more from the Bics. Staedler is another brand I personally find very subpar, I have their colored and watercolor pencils, and yes they aren't awful but they aren't good either, and for 35/40 euros I'd much rather recommend buying open stock faber castell's AD which are personally my favorites. :) Amazing video as always! ❤

I completely agree, it seems Staedtler is so popular though!

@@paintingandchocolate incredibly popular, although I really don't know why, even the children and student lines of FC and Caran D'Ache which are a bit more budget friendly offer better products, but there's a really strong following to this brand.

I currently have 9 pieces of Museum Aquarelle. I only chose different colors for skins plus one black, moss green and night blue. I only need Grey, Light Blue and a Darker or more natural brown.

Great video, as always! 😺 I was initially worried that the intense color of the reference photo wouldn’t come through in the painting, but boy was I wrong! Such are the thrills of watching people paint… I was also seriously impressed at how well these Derwent Watercolor pencils lift - quite a bit more than the Albrecht Dürer and the Inktense which I am used to.

Yes they lift so well!

Dreamy results, and so educational. I don't have the Derwent watercolor pencils but the Inktense pencils and blocks should arrive any day now. 😊

Very interesting and informative way to focus a product review. I have tried those pencils and don't like them much -- the lower pigment level makes them harder to use, and it just takes longer to finish a piece. I don't like to waste time on products that just require more work when better products (like Museum Aquarelles) are available. Your result came out beautifully, though.

Great video! I have ran into a sharpening issue with my Derwent sketching pencils. I am going to buy a new sharpener. Any recommendations on what type of sharpener to purchase? Should I get a sharpener for sketching pencils and one for watercolor pencils?

For me the best is the simplest metal sharpener all kids have at school 🙂

Cheap regular Colour Pencils are mostly fine for providing good results of drawing except Lightfastness of course. Cheap Watercolour Pencils are awful most of the time. I highly recommend buying a small set of Albrecht Durer instead. The Goldfaber Aqua isn't very good for a textured paper, you have to find a good hot press paper for this one.

I agree. I tried the goldfaber and didn't like them for the streaky look.

6:59 wow, what kind of paper is that? I can't even do a 2nd wet on wet because it'll wipe some of the first layer. You must be using a very quality watercolor paper

If I put asside Albrecht Dürer and Museum Aquarell (which are the best) I would sooner take the Koh-i-Noor watercolor pencils which are much cheaper than Derwent watercolor pencils
