SELECTING
Yellow papaya is ripe and ready to eat. Overripe papaya will smell sweet and feels mushy when pressing against it's skin. Green and firm means it will ripen in 1-3 days.
STORAGE
• Unripe papaya can be stored on the counter at room temperature to ripen quickly, 1-3 days. Whole, ripe papaya should be refrigerated in a plastic bag for use within about a week.
• Chopped, raw papaya should be refrigerated in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
• Freeze chopped and seeded papaya in a freezer bag for 10-12 months.
