i know i'm really late to your comment lmao but you can move as if you are on fire, or there's fire surrounding you, or you can become the flame and flicker around and catch on things. there is also the idea of symbolizing it where you can think passion, danger, and just stuff like that. even tho I was late I hope that could help :)

Thank you, this is so helpful! I’ve been dancing for many years-I’m an old lady now- but I haven’t choreographed since I was in college. And was never taught guidelines like you’re giving here. I’ve remembered a choreographic dream from long ago, a pas de deluxe for two women. The music is soulful, with a tenor saxophone weaving around a very basic, simple melody. This music has been haunting me. I want to finish making this dance before I die. Now you;ve shown me how to get inside the music. What a beautiful process this is! 💖

This video was so helpful. I decided to create a lyrical dance to an emo/pop punk song and I was discouraged when I couldn't think of anything to go to it. I got discouraged a bit. So I went and looked up how to create choreography to lyrical dance. And when I watched the section about lyrical study, it was like a lightbulb went off in my head. I was able to come up with choreography FAST. It only took me 9-10 days to come with the choreography to the dance. Sure, there are a ton of repeats for sections for when the lyrics repeat, but I figured if the lyrics repeat, then so can the moves. Anyways, 9-10 days is FAST for me to come up with choreography. I now have a dance that looks decent-ish. I'm not a professional by any means, but I'm proud of it. And I'm finally going to have some friends film me do it in less than a week.

Omg thank you thank you thank you!! I may be 3 years late but I have seen this video when I was younger and couldn't really dance! I have dance classes at my school now and since it's the end of the final semester, my dance teacher is giving my class a major grade on choreographing a dance!
