For anyone who's brush his stinking after you wash it. It's because it's natural boar hair. I'm a wet shaver as well as a beard enthusiast and I have owned several bore brushes that I use to lather up my soap to shave with. Every bore brush I've ever owned it takes several washes to get that smell out. Horsehair , boar's hair and Badgers hair all can smell like animal after you wash it the first few times.

@@DanCBearded Hey Dan, I'm doing great and I hope you are as well. Just got home today from a 45 day RV trip up in Maine . Bounced all around. I live in New York. Anyway, I haven't been watching and participating in much KZitem beard content ever since I botched up my beard and shaved it off. I want to grow it back long again but I'm not looking forward to the awkward stage of about 2 -3 months of looking pretty scraggly. I'm actually 2 weeks in right now thinking I'm gonna go for it but I might give in and keep it a short beard. I've been through that about 3 or 4 times already. But I actually bought the Tomahawk for the mustache thinking that I'm gonna grow it back . I ordered it while I was away I didn't open it yet. I do plan on growing it back just not sure when. Hopefully the one I have now will keep growing. Thanks for asking about me my friend. You have the best beard content out there. And of course one of the best beards. Learned a lot from you too. 😎👊🏻

Hey, nice vid! I have one question though, how often should you clean the brush?
@DanCBearded

I would say once every three to six months. Depending on your use

@@DanCBearded Thank you! I also wonder, should you apply beard oil before or after you brush your beard? Also, can you overdo brushing?

In washing my Boars Bristle brush can I use dish soap or a mile shampoo

Dish soap is fine

Does a lot to get all the grime out, but what about the tiny white hairs that get tangled up in the bristle bundles on the brush? I can't seem to get rid of em. Tried like 3 different kinds of soaps/wash, even tried 91% isopropyl alcohol and no dice.

Probably just time for a new brush. Apologies for the extremely delayed response

Same deal, with some spinning involved. Just shallow enough water where it doesn’t hit the shaft

Nope, I would recommend the same method as this. Big enough bowl for the brush to spin horizontally

I love your channel and have found your videos very helpful! I do have a question as I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I have a hair brush that I bought in the store and it is a boars hair bristle brush, but it has a plastic handle and base to it. I noticed maybe after a month of using it that I have dead skin that has entangled with the boars hairs. I have tried scraping the brush with a hair brush tool under running water and it doesn't work. I don't want to use it for fear of putting dead skin back onto my head. Do you have any other suggestions that I could use to get rid of the dead skin?
@DanCBearded

Hmmm, I would say get a better brush unfortunately. Sounds like it is probably a fake boars hair, which is really common

Dan C Bearded thanks Dan! I just purchased a Zilberhaar boar bristle brush. From lists I found online, it comes highly recommended. I didn’t know that there were fake boar bristle brushes that can still claim to be 100%. Do you recommend using two separate brushes for head hair and beard hair? Thanks again for the high quality info!

Hey, I have a bristle brush but I am unsure if it is 100% boar bristle or synthetic or coated, do you know how to check and confirm this?

It will stink a little after getting wet if it is real
