No probs it’s easy to clean these types of filters. Couple of times a year do it yourself and save some money. Just remember to let all the air out first…lol

This is the best video I have seen on the cleaning of the DE filter. THe lighting was bright, the steps easy to see and thus do myself. Thank you.

Thanks for this, I was trying to understand how these differ from classic grid filters, and this cleared up my questions. Great video.
@LonghornWorkshop

The classic grid filters probably more effective, but these are easier and quicker to clean and maintain.

Thanks you very much, hope it helped and save yourself a few bucks doing it yourself. Just be sure not to over tighten the ring that connects the two halves of the filter, as that can crack the filter.

nice ! 4:30 what do you use to lubricate such rings ? (i'm always afraid that lubricant "eats" rubber)
@LonghornWorkshop
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks and yes you have to be careful, it’s silicone lubricant, you can buy a small tube from your pool store. Or you can buy pool O-ring lubricant from Amazon. There is a brand called magic lube for pools that is good.

You ended by saying if you have no bubbles in the Pump you are good to go. What if you see through the clear top of the pump, bubbles? Or fills to the top then suddenly water drops to the bottom of the pump reservoir? After maybe 3 minutes, it fills up to the top, then drops to the bottom again? Does this mean there is an air leak? I have no debris in either the skimmer filter or the pump filter, i also added some O ring lubricant to the Pump lid for a good seal??? I'm baffled why it seems it's lost prime?
@LonghornWorkshop
2 жыл бұрын
My guess would be a air leak, check all the glued connections to the pump and filter. A few years a ago I had a similar issue and I had a small leak on a pipe going to the pump.
@LonghornWorkshop

Forgot to mention in the earlier message also check the pool valves. Maybe the gasket / o ring in them need replacing.

Hi, for how long time is ok to observed DE sand at the pool after putting the DE for the first time?
@LonghornWorkshop
2 жыл бұрын
Sorry I am not sure I understand the question? DE is not sand, it’s a powder. You need to do a complete clean of the filter twice a year.
@DamonChuck

If you have a salt water pool, do you use D.E. powder?
@LonghornWorkshop
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chuck the water system you use does not relate to the pool filter you have. You may have a sand filter, than no DE should be used, if it’s a DE filter then yea you should replace the DE at least once a year. To be safe take a picture of your pool filter to your pool store and ask them. Sorry can’t be specific as it depends on the filter type you have

Don’t forget the rubber gasket that’s between the two half’s of the filter. If you have that already make sure it’s sitting right and not damaged

How much DE powder did you use after complete cleaning Quad filter?
@LonghornWorkshop
3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the size of your filter. My filter is a Quade 60 and requires 6 lbs of de after a complete clean. Your filter should have a sticker on the side that says how much is required.

Cleaning DE filters on your grass might be bad for your grass. I did the same and it killed my grass. Be careful...
