Maybe I'm missing something here but for 45 years I've been using good ol' reliable Hoppe's number 9 for all my gun cleaning chores. It'll remove the soot in the cylinder flutes and with a toothbrush with stainless steel bristles, it'll clean the burn marks on the face of the cylinder with a little scrubbing action.

It's probably the finish or the materials Colt uses. I use Hoppe's on my S&W 686 and it takes the carbon right off

I use the Kleenbore version, "lead away". Great for taking those burn rings off of the cylinder face around the chambers.

I use them on all my stainless revolvers every two or three range trips. I cut out a small square approx 2 x 2 for each use.

@@ToddTheGunGuy a lot of revolver people don’t care about the burn marks on the front of the cylinders, but with a little scrubbing they look fantastic. Just not supposed to use that on a blued gun
