When you brew using the "strong" option it is supposed to brew slower to get more coffee/flavor out of the k-cup. That is why it is taking longer to brew.

I watched this entire video from start to finish because you have the same problem I have. It takes way too long to brew a cup of coffee. I was not pleased with your results. Anyway, I did the same thing you did and got the same results. When I was almost done with my last few brews to rinse out the system, I smacked each side of the machine with my palms. I noticed more coffee grinds were ending up in my cup. So I did it some more. and I got more coffee grinds in my cup. I took a small wire (Stripped twist tie from bread loaf) and stuck in in the top needle that penetrates the top of the k-cup about 3/4 " and twisted it around to clean it. About 2 more rinses and several more grinds later, the machine worked like new. Turns out, I didn't need to descale at all. I should've known since I only put reverse osmosis water in the machine anyways. Just thought you and others would like to know.

My 2.0 was completely clogged. I didn't use any descaler or vinegar. I just took the bread twisty wire, jiggled it around in the needle, tapped the top a few times and it came unclogged, spewing coffee grinds out the first time. To be on the safe side I did it a second time, and the thing runs like new. I spent more time stripping and straightening the bread twist tie than actually cleaning the machine. Whole time about 5 minutes to clean. DO NOT run vinegar through your machine, it will ruin the lower needles rubber seal, which you cannot replace.

You can use distilled white vinegar with the same result for a fraction of the cost of Keurig's solution. Just be sure to run several cups of distilled water thru the system when done to be sure the vinegar is purged out. Also, this could prevent a mold build-up in the machine.

The reason why its taking 90 seconds is due to the fact that you hit the STONG button.By hitting the strong button the water brews in the k-kup a little longer to get the stronger flavor.

For what it's worth The best thing you can do for these 2.0 machines is use the orange plunger piece that comes with the original packaging. When mine starts brewing slowly or poorly, it never fails to amaze me how much coffee grounds get packed in/up the nozzle that penitrates the top of the k-cup. Works like a charm but it'll make you feel like your going to break the lever in the meanwhile.

All you need to do after the descale is get a paper clip and open the clip up and there is two pins that need to be cleaned when your Keurig slows down. The front one is the one that puts the hole in the top of the pod and then there is one right behind it. Now facing the Keurig slide the open paper clip gently on the right side right next to the side of the pin and you will feel it go up about 1/8" or maybe a little more, then do the same thing to the pin right behind the front pin and all you need to do is put a cup under it and run it about 3 times. You should see some grinds on the first one and you should see a much better water flow. This is the most common thing that happens. You may try the little bubble full of water and you lift the handle and close it about 5 times. I would try this first if you have the little orange plastic and rubber bulb that sits where the coffee pod would sit. You may have to contact Keurig to get them to mail you one. I try this first and if no luck then I do the above where I use a paper clip on both of the pins coming down.

I assume you have heard this a few times by now but I don't believe that the decscaling solution and process is to remove the buildup of minerals in the reservoir and to keep the machine running well. It helps to keep it from clogging and keeps that great taste you have come to love over the years. I have the same machine as you and my brewing time is just 10 seconds or so faster. The problem I found, is that our model, allows you to 'drain' the tank, which holds 1/3 of the amount of reservoir water, so the first time you brew with the solution, is not 'using' the solution, it is using the 'tank water'. So, I drained the tank, then added the solution to sit for 1 hour, and did this 4 times. So it worked for 4 cups, now it stopped flowing again, and the descale light is on again, so now trying to clear other areas.???

It is the actual de-scaling solution that I bought to clean out the machine I think you can find it on amazon.

I found it at Walmart $12.92 and 'GooGone's brand was $3.96. Only tried Keurig brand at the office, but will try the GooGone for the broken one at home.

@MyDIYbyBrian

+jayburd08 It will never drain all of the way, you could add a little bit of water slowly until it allows you to brew.

do you use the filter for the Keurig or do you it just use filter water. and do you have to use the filter?

Jasmina Broom I use the filter that came with the Keurig. You don't have to use that filter but I would recommend it.

+My DIY thank you. I purchased this today but haven't used it yet or set it up. I do have one more question. Am I able to use disposable cup with this? like cups you get when you order from Starbucks. or even disposable foam cups.

Yes, I have received similar comments stating that. I suppose if I ever get a new Keurig I will time the brew right away to know if it is really slowing down or not.

They recommend changing the filter every three months. Which doesn't normally sync up with the descale schedule.

I don't think you did it correctly. I think you're supposed to run the descale through a second time before you wait 30 minutes. IIRC, you only did a single brew before letting it sit. I figure, there's some plain water in the system, so the first descale brew purges the fresh water. When you do it a second time, you have a much better descale concentration.
@MyDIYbyBrian
8 жыл бұрын
+takenusername I see what you're saying, however, the instructions were only to do the descale once. I would have needed another bottle of the solution to complete it. Thanks for stopping by!
@takenusername
8 жыл бұрын
+My DIY that's not what I meant. you will have plenty of solution. I'm referring to doing a second 10oz brew before you let it sit. I watched an official Keurig descale video which did this.

My DIY I git the offensive message too! This could really hurt a guy's channel. Something I'd sure take care of because it almost had me taking a detour, but my curiosity won. Like how terribly bad could someone's Kurug fix be to get a block like this! Mostlikely, someone pushed meaning reply. But who knows some wack job might have thought you were beating your machine! Lol
