I bought this as my first propane grill. It's been a fun, learning experience kzitem.infoUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . I think it's a bit too pricey after looking at other grills, but it wasn't hard to put together and it works really well. I love the side burner option for heating food during a power outage. I have an electric stove and live in the South (Hurricane season), so this was a bonus. I also bought a cover for it and it has protected it nicely (the Char Broil All-Season Grill Cover 3-4 Burner: Large). Every few grill sessions, I take the rack (or grate) and burner covers off and clean them with a non-abrasive scrubby and mild soap. I wipe the excess off of the bottom as well, taking care to avoid the gas and pilot lines.

My advice is to pay a little extra upfront for stainless steel grates. On those you can use sandpaper or a drill with a wire brush if you'd like and not risk any damage to clean.

90 percent of dirty grill problems is the sugar from sauces being slathered on the meat. Been barbecuing for 40 years. Taught by my dad and grandfather. We have never put sauce on meat while cooking on the grill.

Great advice. Do you even clean your grill? I've used built in camp site grills that actually did a great job...years of built up grease.
@POPPASHANGO

@@HK-qj4im We would clean the grill before would use it. We would get it nice and hot and would wipe it with a semi wet cloth and push it back and forth with a stick. It would sort of steam away anything grody in the grill but the cloth was wet enough not to burn. Left on grease from grilling would protect the grill until the next time we used it.

You should NEVER use a wire brush on a porcelain grill grate, without appropriate lubrication. You need to use OIL, not water. Make sure it's an oil with high smoke point, like grapeseed oil.

He's using a Weber grill. Weber recommends a brass or SS bristle brush made by Weber. Not Brillo, not nylon, not ignoring cleaning altogether. So all the dummys calling this guy a dummy for using a SS bristled brush, which appears to be identical to the ones on the Weber site, do your research.

Not sold on that. But if this process is limited to Weber grills, he should have made that clear. Without that warning, a lot of people are going to be ruining their porcelain grates. Personally, I prefer SS grates. Easy to keep absolutely pristine on my gas grill. And after 4 years of heavy grilling, they still look practically new except for some discoloration.

That doesn't looks like a porcelain coated grill to me. My Weber Spirit BBQ has thin metal coated in grey enamel. It takes me many hours of scrubbing with a brillo wire wool pad to get it clean back to the enamel. I takes much longer to clean than all the food preparation and cooking. A brush like the one shown doesn't get it clean at all. It just removes the large lumps. What am I doing wrong? Every time I have to clean it I feel like throwing at away and getting a new one.

I really want a Weber grill. I have had a Charbroil grill for 10 years now. Got it for $400. It is about 1/3 bigger than that one you have and has a side burner. Looked up the Weber version of that and it retails for $1300. So a bit hesitant to fork out that kind of money for a grill. But I did hear Weber does make really good grills so we will see. I can probably get another 2-3 years out of my charbroil.

Wire brushes aren't worth the risk of using and possibly injuring yourself or someone else, in the event a bristle ends up in your burger or chicken and then in your throat or ingested.
