Muriatic acid turns out to just be a confusing name for "hydrochloric acid" which is very dangerous of course, but once it reacts it just results in salt and water most likely, so I wouldnt say it is "environmentally dangerous" if it just runs off the driveway and into the street as it will just neutralize itself as it runs down the street anyway.

@@drippingwax Right, enough water will wash away almost anything from a microliter of acid to multiple sky scrapers (a tsunami, for example, or a Cat 5 hurricane), but that's not what you meant. If one dilutes the acidic solution with a sufficient quantity of water, or base, then any decrease in pH occasioned by the small amount of acid, should be rendered to minimal impact by sufficient water, and or base. The old problem, however, is how do you neutralize hundreds of tons of acid, safely, and as quickly as possible in our inland rivers, estuaries, lakes, ponds, and everything thing else.
