We have used the kzitem.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Kinda helpful video...obviously the mechanic is very knowledgeable about this generator. The camera operator on the other hand...whew! Maybe if they stood further back we could see the factory in Japan. We can’t see through fingers, and we can’t see the removal of the jets, arguably the most important step. Also, zipped by the exact location to aim carb cleaner at the carb. Between squinting to see the tiny carb in hand and trying for x-ray vision to see through fingers and arms...er....

The permanent solution I added the tri fuel conversion kit on my Honda 1000 and Honda 2200. I bought both new and no gasoline only propane. Down side you loose about 10% power using propane 900 and 2000 watts max. Running propane cleaner, no fouling spark plug or engine, no dirty oil, no cleaning carb or spark arrestor. Engines on propane or natural gas lasts longer and less maintained. On propane or natural gas no carb problems or treating fuel.

If the emulsion tube is stuck, it is mostly due to varnish. You will need to soak the carburetor in carburetor cleaner for a couple hours and use a small flat head screwdriver to try and push the tube down and out of the carburetor. If you are still unable to get it out you may have to replace the carburetor. If you have more questions or concerns please feel free to let us know. Then blew it out with carb cleaner and compressed air, visually inspected it all the holes for daylight. Result was that it didn't need quite as much choke to run smoothly, but would NOT run without choke. What's next? What if this doesn't do the trick?

Hi Jason. There are 2 sides of the the float bowl gasket. Make sure the round side of the float bowl gasket is inserted into the carburetor and that the bowl is centered in the carburetor body. It is possible that the float bowl was damaged during tightening. Please be aware that generator models EB2800i and EG2800i were recalled due to a carburetor fuel leak issue.

Thanks for the informative detailed video, much appreciated. On average how much would you estimate that this procedure would cost to have a service center do it, and could you recommend one on the east coast.

Mohamed, could you provide us with some clarification? What is a corporate clean?
@weingartz
7 жыл бұрын
Mohamed Ashour, if your generator goes off when loading it could be for a number of reasons. It could be something in the carb that might require cleaning or you could be overloading it. In that case, try something smaller with less wattage. If you have more questions or concerns feel free to ask or if you'd like to talk to someone directly give us a call at one of our stores. weingartz.com/locations

Hope someone else has seen this issue. Have neighbor with generator: will start, run for about 20 minutes then shutdown (immediate as if ON/OFF switched off). I can restart, choke needs to be about mid range and will run for 5- 10 minutes then shutdown again. Oil OK, spark plug OK. I will probably rebuild carb, but wondered if this symptom means fuel pump or fuel filter, valve clearance?
@weingartz
7 жыл бұрын
Jake, it could be two issues. The first issue: the fuel cap is either turned to off or the fuel cap has stopped venting and is vapor locking the fuel tank and preventing fuel flow to the carburetor. The second issue could be the ignition coil that creates spark for the engine. A symptom of the ignition coil failing is when the engine gets to operating temperature, the ignition coil will stop making spark and kill the engine.

Thanks for the video. I have an EU2000i that will only run with the choke fully closed. I used this video to remove and clean the carb. There was a significant amount of varnish/ gunk built up in the float bowl, main jet etc. I cleaned everything out with carb cleaner and canned air, including using a small needle to clean the very small holes in the tube above the main jet. I could see light through the all holes. After cleaning, it will still only run with the choke on. Any ideas? Gas is new. Unit dies completely when choke is open (lever moved to left).

When there is a significant amount of varnish, you will likely need to rebuild or replace the carburetor.

What are the honda part #'s to lean out the carb for 5,000' elevation?
@weingartz
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for reaching out. Has your machine run in this elevation before? If so, does it have old fuel in it? If not, check the fuel first. To get a high altitude kit for the carburetor, you need to have your model number, serial number, and information on the altitude handy. We can look into getting the kit and possibly having it shipped to you, or we can help find a local Honda Dealer. Please feel free to call us with more questions or concerns at 248-471-3050.

had the same thing with my honda 10i. nobody spoken about the fuel pump, little filter on its side, that the engine pumps air to the fuel line, to the fuel pump to then go then the carb, taken mine apart small copper air filter was blocked, washed with hot soapy water now put back working fine, as i now see this small air being pumped fuel to engine , to the fuel pump feeds the fuel to the carb from the tank, if as min the membrane was not moving thus the pump not pushing air to the carb, this pumps fuel and thus run out of fuel stopped and as your lumpy as not getting enough fuel to run Show less REPLY

When you pull out the main jet, you said want to inspect that for debris and varnish. Then out of no where you say you got this one too? This what, and where did it come from. When say you got this one too, one what? Does it have a name. And it appears between your two fingers, i dont have that, and i don't where you pulled it from, I'm looking between my two fingers and i don't see it. Well i keep watching, may you will put it back.

I have a brand new 1000W inverter generator (zipper ZI-STE1200IV, probably a honda clone) that bogs down and dies if loaded suddenly by a 2-element 800W halogen heater. If I load it with 400W first, wait, then turn on the second 400W element, it delivers 800W with no problems. If I give it half-choke, I can start the entire heater without the engine dying (though it still bogs down). Looking at the throttle position, it seems to do nothing when the heater is first turned on, then once the engine feels the load and rpm starts to drop, the stepper moves rapidly towards full throttle - but most of the time it's too late and the engine sputters and dies. It is then impossible to start the engine (with the throttle still stuck at full throttle) unless I give it some choke. Also, it hunts up and down the rev range when cold and at low load. The carb looks identical to the one in this video, complete with stepper motor at the top. Any ideas what could be wrong?
@weingartz

You are overloading the generator at startup. You need more power to load the 800W heater. Try a 2000W generator and the heater should run just fine.

Thanks for the reply :). Actually, I took apart the servo/stepper motor that moved the throttle, checked for free movement and reassembled it, re-tightened the nuts that hold the carb on its studs (the ones you see when you remove the air filter - they were only slightly tightened from the factory), and sprayed carb cleaner over the part of the main jet that was just visible between the choke and the throttle plates. Tested it yesterday - it started on the second pull and picked up the 800W load just fine for a good 10 minutes. I even turned on the third 400W element and it managed to drive all 1200W, though I didn't leave it do that for more than a few seconds because the owner's manual says 5 sec. max, and the engine was really working hard (wide open throttle and 5,500rpm measured on the tach). I have a new problem though. At idle it seems to make a funny noise at random intervals every few dozen seconds. Almost as if it didn't burn the petrol for one cycle (a misfire?). Previously, it would only start making that noise a few minutes after I shut off the fuel cock, when the float bowl was nearing empty. Now it makes it randomly when idling even though the fuel cock is open. Doesn't affect the output, but it just sounds wrong. Any ideas? I'm going to try tightening the stud nuts on the carb/air filter housing again. Maybe it has something to do with this being a new engine (only 1.2 hours so far).

Try pulling the spark plug to make sure there's no carbon. Also, make sure the fuel is not too old. Too old fuel won't burn right. Additionally, if you're close to any of our locations feel free to bring your generator in for us to look at weingartz.com/locations.

Thanks for the suggestions. The spark plug is spotless (engine only has 3 hours running time, total since new), and the fuel was bought 2 weeks ago. The problem seems to have resolved - perhaps the engine needs some running-in. One last problem. I don't know if this is normal on inverter generators, but I was running a desktop computer on it (150W draw measured at the plug). I plugged in a 20W LED floodlight, and that caused the output voltage to drop briefly. Long enough for the computer to restart. In fact, when running the computer, any new load put on the generator (from a 20W floodlight to a 400W heater) makes the computer reset because of the brief voltage drop. Is this normal, or is it a case of my generator being slow to react to increased load?
@weingartz

No, that's normal.

Joseph with an issue like that we recommend taking it in to your dealer or bring it to Weingartz and we can take a look. We would never want to offer advice on a home fix that we have not had the chance to examine and evaluate first.
