Cleaning and inspecting the internals is a safety standard. And helps you get better with that model each time. 22TCM is a bottleneck case, basically 223 short. Need to keep the chamber clean and lubed. Also run the internals wet with oil. Good demo and tutorial 👍

Before I reassemble the guide rod plug I put the safety in the on-safe position to hold the slide and frame in the correct position. I learned that 56 years ago in AI training. Nice little helpful hint. Greetings from Hastings, NE.

Good morning and afternoon, Travis. Thank you for this video. I'm actually looking into purchasing this model 1911. Been looking for a 1911 and I know 💯 I'd be buying one from rock island company. Once I saw this dubble stack .45 acp. I was. HOOKED! looking for to getting one. This video will help out. Big time! Thank you once again for your in death video breakdowns. REALLY GOOD! Happy mothers day to your wife and your mom. 😎🤘🍻❤

@@travisp11 your welcome. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on purchasing this .45 acp rock island once I get my SRM ARMS 1216 shotgun of budsgunshop layaway. I've been wanting a rock island. 45 acp. for home defense and as a back for when I'm in the woods. Revolver be BEST. But with this rock island being a dubble stack. 45 and 14+1. 15 rounds of ether Buffalo Bore or dubble tap ammo. 👌. I'll be good to go when out in the woods

Yeah, that 22lb or 24lb spring takes a ton of hand strength to depress and hold long enough to get the paper clip in. It's definitely doable though. Use a table to press down against for help.

I have this exact same pistol! Beautiful to say the least. Does anybody know how I can take the grips off though? I’ve searched for it but it seems that every other 1911 has a different type of screws. I’ve looked in my tool box and couldn’t find anything to take them screws off. Thank you for anybody with an answer!

alvaro anchondo I only have my sights replaced by a gunsmith unless the sights are the type that screw in. You may need to use a brass punch and hammer in order to get them off. Is there also a screw that needs to come out?

This double stack RIA model uses MecGar P18 9mm / 38 super mags. The extended magwell requires extended base pads. If you can't find the factory ones there's: Ronin's Grips, RIA/Act-Mag plastic base plate; and Dawson Precision Baseplates, for Para HiCap, aluminum metal.

I came because I thought the barrel bushing removal was different because of the "bull barrel" on the .22TCM. But seriously my man, you are way too chatty. This video did not need to be 16min long. Dissassembly: 1) Depress recoil spring plug 2) Rotate barrel bushing clockwise to 7:30 3) Remove spring plug. Avoid becoming blind 4) Move slide rearwards/align takedown notch with slide stop 5) Remove slide stop 6) Remove recoil spring 7) Remove guide rod towards breech 8) Rotate barrel bushing counter clockwise to 4:30, and remove 9) Remove barrel towards muzzle 10) Put frame on safe. Clean. Reassemble in reverse order.

@@travisp11 No worries. your heart's in the right place. I would like to know how to take the base pads off the magazines for service. Looks a bit trickier than a button through hole like other similar mags. Also. tip for this type of recoil spring plug: Use a wooden dowel, or a Bic Lighter to press it down. Saves the thumb. 👍
