Like you in the past, I used to wipe dressing trying to reach all the tiny crevasses of the engine bay. I use Chemical Guys VRP 50/50 and now use a blower to spread it into those areas. If anyone has never used this method, try it. No real mop up is needed as it levels and absorbs to leave a great layer of long term protection. Love your stuff Jim !

Stunning work as ever Jim the vlogs are a work of art in themselves , love Autoglym VRC , ( Autosmart finish is virtually identical to VRC ) first used that product on my XR3 i engine bay back in 1989 ( yes I am an old git ! ) , the beauty of that product is you can spray it on a wet engine shut the bonnet and leave it till next day and bar the odd dab of a cloth it always looked perfect. I've also found that carpro perl rejuvenates faded matt black plastic under bonnet components on older cars to just like new .

VRC can be sprayed on a wet engine bay if you are in a hurry, then just drive to dry it - a tip I picked up from an autoglym training video many years ago. Leaves quite a matt finish if you don’t go too mad on the dressing as well.

Jim, I have been detailing mine and my families vehicles for some time and now I have branched out as many of my neighbors have asked me to detail their cars. I started a new detailing business due to the demand in my town. This video and many of your other videos on tips and tricks/trade secrets have really helped. I was wondering about the 'Tornador" or whatever it is called that you were using to help detail the engine starting at 2:58 in your video. May I ask what it is, your review, and where to find one. I know you are busy so if you get the time to advise me on this I would appreciate it. Alan from Prescott, AZ.

I've used so many through the years, but CG VRP is so good I stocked up on it as my go to. I'll add that on some neglected tires I ran a tape line, applied a nice even coat, knocked it down a bit with a MF and 3 months later on a daily driver, 24/7 outside, I could still clearly see the line. Great stuff and a good value, very versatility and dilutable, one of the only products I use from CG.

Safe yourself a lot of work and time by simply spraying on the cleaner then rinsing. This will reveal the built up dirt you can scrub or not. If you have OCD you can use toothbrushes and cotton tipped applicators and an endoscope.

The tail pipes indicate that it could be one of the 6-cylinder diesels (325d or 330d) since those cars came with that kind of dual pipes. But when the bonnet is opened, you can see The engine is a 4-cylinder N47, so actually it is either 316d, 318d or 320d.

Yes, you can try that. Interesting idea, worth a shot. I use compressed air from a compressor, but the hairdryer could be an interesting tool to try. Also, you could use a leaf blower, usually around 50$ for a cheap one, since you don't need something strong. This shown here is better than a compressor since its not that harsh and not so directional.
