Fantastic Hugo you should really patent it. I would like to experiment with holes in the centre pipe and varying the volume of water to the spinner and the central pipe. Really great job mate.

Nice! Planning to build one. Looking forward to the construction video! Is there a larger piece of pipe glued onto the center pipe to support the upper bushing? I see smooth, black, shiny material. Is there a bearing under the lower bushing, or just a flat disc of plastic and a washer? Perhaps an inside plug for the center pipe, a bit easier than taking the cap on and off.

Great set up. My spa came with my home and the spa has sat for several years of not being used. I've gotten 90% of the flakes out but every week when I clean the filter I have to use my garden spray nozzle on flat and use a ice cream Popsicle stick to clean between the pleats. Are you getting the pleats clean? or are there deposits still left in the pleats?

Hi Hector, Great job! I am looking to build one of these. Can I ask a few questions? 1. What nozzles are you using (or are they just drilled holes in PVC, and if so, what size holes)? 2. What is the bottom rotating assembly made out of - meaning, what is the bearing riding on and in? 3. do you have water running in all of the pipes, or are they blocked off? I hope you make another video describing your build. Thanks in advance!

Dude!!! That's awesome!!! I tried to do something like that with the filter horizontally to use centrifugal force, but didn't spin well. I'll see about building one like yours. Way cool!!! =) Takes me 15min per filter by hand, but we have a lot of ducks, and so more algae, etc. BTW, wish I had kept my old vain style filter....much easier to clean and backwash in the housing. They said I'd only need to clean the Jacuzzi filter 2x year, LOL! NOT!!!!!

Hector this is perfect, using centrifugal force to help with cleaning! Please - how do you build one? I can figure out the PVC pipe configuration but where did you get or how did you make the 2 inserts for the filter and what is the base part with the ball bearings allowing for the spin?
@LaserMade84
7 жыл бұрын
Hi David, The two inserts are PVC end caps. I glued a flat end cap and a rounded end cap together and drilled a hole down the middle of both. The base part consists of a flat surface just for the filter to sit on, with 2" washers on the top and bottom. The metal protects the PVC and rubbing on the flat surface and it makes the filter spin a whole lot better.

Hector, going to build this, great idea. Have been looking for something like this. How well do you think it works? Also, do you have holes on the interior pole where the filter is?
@LaserMade84
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, It works really, really, really well for me! I don't have any holes in the middle pipe where the filters slides onto. I thought about it but decided not to since my filter has a hard plastic pipe down the middle with .25" diameter holes up and down it. I thought the holes would prevent a lot of the water from getting through and actually cleaning the filter from the inside out. Just add a little spa filter degreaser and the setup will do the rest.

Hector ... as I have started down this road ... ran into my first road block ...what is the easiest way to drill the 7/8 center hole in the 3" round?
@LaserMade84
Жыл бұрын
I would outline 2 circles with the same center line, Then drill the smaller 7/8 first, then jig saw the 3” hole. The larger hole can be slightly larger then you need then you can sand down to a perfect fit.

@@LaserMade84 Thank you! When I watch your video “How to clean your hot tub filter” at :25 it appears that you created a bulb that fits down into the filter to keep it centered when spinning. How did you build this piece? The diameter of my top and bottom holes are 3” on my filter… thinking yours may be smaller and I need to adjust the specs of your parts list for what I need?
@LaserMade84

@@gmontana1 the new build is easier to create. If you follow the this short (kzitem.infoD1HeJKED3Pk?feature=share) I have the materials list in the comment section. The new version has (2) 3" rounds cut out of 3mm plywood with a 7/8" hole in the middle. These two rounds keeps the filter centered to the 1/2" pvc pipe. The bottom portion of the round will sit on 1" thrust bearings which will make the filter spin freely.
