Is there always a shield on the bearing? I can't seem to get mine off, and the tack has indented the "shield" and I fear that I may have damaged it, considering you said to be careful when doing so 🙄

I got caught in the rain while I was out today and the boots didn't get too wet but my wheels and plates definitely did. I have thick wheels and it doesn't seem like much water got into the bearings. should I be worried about rust? Is there a good way to do a quick clean after this happens?

Wipe them down to get any moisture out and use compressed air to get any excess moisture out

Ever pack bearings with grease following cleaning? Probably should use gloves when handling chemicals and dirt. Skin is permeable. 30 years from now your hands will definitely be greatful, albeit silently.

Do you need to take the sheild off, or will the acetone ruin them
@simon_slays55

Best bet is to take them off! You can use anything small and pin, safety pin tip, flat thin utensil, tack to remove them. :) Hope this is helpful!

Great tutorial !! Were your bearings really that dirty ? I'd assume by your wheels and skid plate your an outdoor skater. I couldn't imagine the dirt , my daughter and I do indoor and I am always pulling female hair out of our trucks lol ...

Yeah they were! I hadn't cleaned that set since I'd first bought them. And right on, I DO do a lot of outdoor skating! Indoor really does pick up everything, too, especially hair.

How do you dispose the acetone when you're finished?
@user-tc4hl1fc1u
3 жыл бұрын
I have kept a little spot of dead soil /dirt/sand and I put my little bit of acetone in that and it eventually dries. Gets to stay outside, not kill anything else, and is contained. Hasn’t killed the pot the soil is in either. Not sure if it’s the best way but that’s how I dispose of mine.

Do yourself a favor and replace those bearings,rollerbones and kwik bearings have affordable bearings that won’t break the bank and are a step above those stock bearings.rollerbones 30$ for 16 bearings or even less depending on website.they have removable shields for easier cleaning also.

Could I use nail remover acetone? And do I need to use the lubricant? If so is there any substitutes for it?
@simon_slays55
4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend nail polish remover, sorry! The lubricant helps your bearings keep spinning and not dry out after you clean them. There's not a substutute that I know of, BUT, it's super inexpensive! Here is an affordable one, and it will last you more than one clean. If you're a regular skater it's good to have on hand! amzn.to/2HLuqSW
