I live in 99347 where water is hard and white buildup occurs easily due to water hardness. Before watching your video: I heavily hand-washed the two parts with detergent. But still due to the awkwardness of the filter, I threw both parts into the washing machine with protective bags wrapping around them. Now I realize there is a thing called dishwasher cleaner. After the washing machine cycle, I shall put both parts back and use the dishwasher cleaner as well!

Thank you so much - so grateful for this information when those who brought us up didn't teach us anything about any of this -- I read the manual back to front and it didn't even teach us how to do it! 😊 I am curious - when you put the dishwasher cleaner in there and you use the Finish liquid dishwasher sachets for washing regular dishes ... do you put one of those in the container for the regular dishwashing liquid as well? If you don't do that, will the dishwasher run with * just * the dishwashing cleaner in it?

Thanks so much for this tutorial! Our dishwasher was starting to smell really bad and I didnt feel like my dishes were clean. Followed your instructions and scrubbed the filters with an old toothbrush and Dawn soap. They were so gross! Just slimy 🤢 Then I used the same Glisten dishwasher cleaner and ran it on the hottest cycle. Waiting for it to finish now but looking forward to have a clean dishwasher again.

Tried to edit my post with an update, but couldn't so here's my update: after I ran the cleaner through my dishwasher I loaded it up with dirty dishes and washed them on the "normal" setting. I can't believe what a difference cleaning the machine made. My dishes and glasses are sparkling! I really thought we needed a new machine. I'm so happy right now!

I used a toothbrush and some dish soap to clean the filters and then I ran the machine empty with some CLR.

@@5MinuteFixit Ceres Fauna is a streamer who mostly just plays videogames, but the topic was brought up that not many people know (me included) that dishwashers have a filter which has to be cleaned, so I got curious and went to look for mine And so I looked up how to find the dishwasher filter, and this video was very useful, many thanks!
