One question? When you select Disk clone, you are coping all, including the operative system? I mean, in my case is move from a small capacity ssd m2 to another bigger, if I select that option (disk clone) I finish the process an I only connect the cloned ssd it would work as the first? @@magia8930 yeah, do NOT use minitool. I used a Linux-based open source cloning tool called clonezilla and I cannot recommend it enough. Look up a video on using clonezilla and this process will be so much faster and simpler than trying what's in this video. Just make sure that you have a spare flash drive with about 8gb of free space on it edit: spelling

Try to find a download of version 11 of the program. Versions 12 and up require you to buy the program.

Plug the original one in after logging in onto the desktop screen than open file explorer right click the original hard drive and format it.

so, you said this only clones, and the windows files remain on source drive. Once you choose for the bios to boot into the newer drive, how do you go about removing the windows files from the source, original drive? To free up space, since those files are no longer needed?

Hey after changing the booting order to ssd. You just need to format the old C partition from HDD by going create and partion option from window search. After formatting the old C partition it will work as a normal storage with windows on sssd

@@vidal1875 i'm sorry but i just had to move the whole drive to the ssd so i had to uninstall most of my games and reinstall them afterwards.I Also, make sure you move your files to a flash drive so they don't take up that much space. Software that allows you to only move the OS costs money so i didn't do it. I hope this helped!

Awesome! Would anyone know if I have to do something extra en the BIOS other than the boot order for a SSD NVMe I installed? I was able to clone my HDD to the SSD and change the boot to SSD with the cloned Windows but noticed no difference in speed compared to the HDD so I am not sure if I am missing something to make the SSD run Windows and other programs faster on my Lenovo S145 that may be in the BIOS?

@@Oddpistachio1 windows only requires 32gb for the 64 but version. Are you sure it's not cloning the OS or the entire drive? I just used a free software called diskgenius. The OS migration copied the whole disk. I would suggest a clean install. If you own a retail key, I think this guy has a video on how to retrieve it and deactivate it. You can then use the licence on your fresh install. All you need is a usb and install the iso from Microsoft. Alternatively, you can just buy an OEM key from eBay. I bought it for £1 for a build, and the person I built it for hasn't had any issues.

How about the user files (user folder; documents, music, video, desktop, etc,) and also the programs installed on program files? will it be also migrated to the ssd?

That is what I am worried about. I read that constantly writing data and keeping files on the SSD will slow it down, and it will gradually lose its writing of files. I am looking to have the system itself on the SSD and all other files on the HDD. M.2 sata and hdd in the pc.

Came up with the error "Reboot and Select proper Boot Device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device" And transferred All my files when i only wanted windows to be transferred. It also created 3 new useless Storage devices "Windows RE tools, SYSTEM and Local Disk" I followed the tutorial exactly, did not work for me

My HP laptop has the m.2 SATA SSD slot and I want to use both the m.2 SATA SSD and harddisk in my laptop, where the os will run from the m.2 SSD and the harddisk will be there for storage, to copy the os do I need any adopters or by simply putting the m.2 SSD in it's slot, I will be able to copy the os using any cloning software? Secondly, my laptop is an HP laptop as shown in the above video, but the bios interface is different, with out any "advanced" option (the bios software of my laptop is provided by Insyde). So to change the bios settings to boot from the m.2 SSD instead of hdd, what I should do? (as the option of moving the m.2 SSD on top of hdd is absent in my laptop's bios settings)

I bought an nvme ssd m2 and when i put it in, and turn on the pc it says "boot drive not found" and I go into the bios and the only boot drive is the m2. My 2 other hard drives are gone. And when i take out the m2. Windows and the 2 other hard drives are there and it works. I also tried putting in the m2 while the pc was running and it completly shut down the computer. Is there something wrong with my computer or m2? Or can this be fixed?

Thank you very much for guide. My Desktop does not have M.2 slot, so I want to add through PCIe to M.2 adapter. In this case how use this as my boot drive and clone my hard disk? I do have cloning software came with my Corsair cloning kit, which is basically for cloning regular 2.5 inch SSD with SATA to USB 3 Cable, which I bought to upgrade my Laptop hard drive. I just want to clone my 2tb HDD that my games are on to a 2tb M.2 nvme. I already have a 500mb M.2 nvme bootable drive that Windows 11 is on. I have a 2nd M.2 slot. The HDD is just plugged into one of the SATA spaces, of course. I can have both drives connected to my motherboard at the same time. Surly it couldn't be that complicated. I can even leave the HDD simply because it's more storage, so why not leave it?

I have an hp omen 15 ce00xx and cannot change the boot order in my BIOS. I have tried many things. The os was copied to the M2 ssd succesfully and is recognized by the system and bios. The issue is that it always boots from the old hdd with no way of changing the boot order. When I took out the HDD and tried to boot with only the ssd in the laptop it didn't boot at all. Anyone encountered similar issues?

So I've download various versions of MiniTool and Microsoft Defender say it has low level treats (viruses). I don't trust it. Is there any other free software I can trust to clone an OS over to an M.2?
