Great video demonstrating what seems to be a rare thing. Years ago I used the open system to connect my two Multimoogs. Glorious! I still have all the gear, but it’s been a while. I’m going to need to get everything serviced again. I’d love to do a KZitem demo of that setup.

Thanks for your channel, learned a lot ! How could I automize the micromoog from my computer ?

Thank you very much. Oh yes, the Micromoog is by far one of my top favorite single oscillator synths. All the best, Jareth

great vid man! ive got a prodigy and i wanna buy a micromoog and was wondering how to pair them together. so the s-trig socket is the "trigger" element (for envelopes & filters etc, which on other synths is gate) and the keyboard out socket is the "cv" element (for pitch voltage)

Does the Moog Prodigy work the same way? On my Prodigy the Cinch connector has in/out & the KYBD 1/4 inch has In/Out also. Does this also mean the Prodigy has to always be the Master keyboard? I actually plan on using the Prodigy as a slave to my Laptop Via Expert Sleepers Silent AC Encoder.

Hi, The Prodigy is actually better suited as a slave because even thought the Prodigy says, "S-trig in/out" its actually only an input. You will have not problems controlling the Prodigy with a interface. Jareth

May I ask a completley ignorant question? I have been attempting to use the filters with my guitar through my micromoog for years and I know it can be done but I'm too dumb can you help me. Second question can I use a Sonuus g2m to play my guitar and have the synth sound come out. Sorry for being so dumb.

Not a ignorant question at all, these are areas that can definitely be hard to figure out for many. First Answer is: Yes, you can process the guitar through the micromoogs filter. What you may need is a preamp or a direct box to boost the guitar signal up to a decent decibel level and plug the output into the audio in on the back panel of the micromoog. Here is how to set the unit up: Turn the Oscillator switch to the off position, set the Bypass switch to on, (this bypass switch is called Articulation on early micromoogs), this will keep the VCA locked so you don't have to have a trigger source for the contours. With this setup, you should be able to hear the guitar signal through the filter and you can add LFO sweeps etc as desired. The second answer to your question is: Yes I had to lookup that box and do have a solution in order to make that work for you. What you will need is a MIDI to CV converter like the Kenton Pro Solo series boxes. This gets a bit tricky but will make sense as I explain. What you will want to do first as connect up the Kenton box to the micromoog's S-trigger and Oscillator input on the back panel and then MIDI it first to a keyboard for calibration purposes. Start by pressing the lowest C key on the micromoog, (this sets CV up for unity since Kenton box starts with C note reference) now press the low C on the ext MIDI keyboard and use the tune menu on the kenton to get zero beating or a perfect C tune. Next, hit the high C note on MIDI keyboard and use the scale menu in the Kenton box to adjust for zero beating or perfect C tune.....repeat those last two steps until tracking is perfect. NOTE: the micromoog does struggle holding C note reference due to the keyboard CV memory drifting so it will be necessary to press the low C note on the micromoog to recharge CV memory circuit. This is sometimes worse on some units than others but if it does give you troubles, I can modify your micromoog with a CV latching circuit for a constant CV reference voltage. Hope this helps. Jareth

That is very possible. Basically just have to have a S-Trig cable with a male cinch Jones connector on one end and a female cinch Jones connector on the other end. Then just a 1/4" TS instrument cable. Everything else works the same as in this video.
