Hi Danny, I know for controlling little flies and gnats around house plants, a dusting of cinnamon powder on the soil works wonders, flies apparently hate the smell of cinnamon so steer clear. It only needs a dust fine layer so a little goes a long way. Worth a try x

Awesome tip. Thanks Bex, I will be trying that on my house plants.

thanks danny for your videos. fruit fly are are the bane of my life too. where I live I have found the only effective way to stop fruit and veg being stung is netting. if you live in a suburban area traps will only let you monitor fly numbers as neighbours are not like orchardists who follow rigorous control methods. in colder areas or countryside locations with low fruit fly populations traps may work.

Thanks Sandy. I live in a Fruit Fly Exclusion Zone which has been free of the pest for years. Unfortunately, they got in and have taken hold. But because of the massive horticultural industry here, the government has stepped in and is delivering traps to every doorstep along with lots of media about why it's important. Still doesn't mean everyone will do it, but hopefully we can get it under control. Might have to net as well if we dont. Thanks for sharing.
