Thank you so much for this! I actually teared up reading those "Top 4 Scriptures" at the end. It never ceases to amaze me how the Bible was written during a world so different from our current generation, but how it is still so accurate about how we should live out daily lives. The Bible does not "offer good advice" that's helpful for a lot of people, it literally gives us the perfect foundation upon how we MUST live our lives. There is simply no other way to do it, there is the right way and numerous wrong ways and the Bible gives us the only right way. I can't thank you enough for your T.H.I.N.K. acronym, I'll be posting that all over my home!

The real problem is more than our tongues but our minds. Sin starts in the mind, I guarantee you that if we teach our minds on the word of God more likely most things we say will be in line with his words. Alot of times we say thinks because the movies we watch, the music we listen to. Even the foods we eat can affect our minds. Most people I believe is easily influence, in this case try and hang out with good people mostly. But most importantly pray because without prayers nothing that we do will make sense.

Explain the food part?
@jaxmom09
3 жыл бұрын
@@NarrowPath_7 so much of the food we eat is complete garbage (at least in the USA) and the chemicals and additives wreak havoc on our bodies and minds. Think about it: how do you feel after a few days of nothing but sugary, highly processed junk food and soda? Your mind is sluggish and your body feels lousy. But after a few days of eating nothing but natural whole food and water you feel completely different! You're more likely to make poor decisions and be mean and nasty because you aren't getting proper nutrition. Generally speaking of course.

@@NarrowPath_7 you can find that kind of food all over the world, not just the USA. It's just not normalized and pushed to be eaten daily as hard as it is here. That kind of food is far more convenient and easy to find for the average person here who's always on the go, plus it seems much cheaper.

GOD BLESS YOU ALLEN! I really really needed to hear this. I realize this is one of the BIGGEST sins that I struggle with. And it is the cause of a lot of my relationship problems. I believe it comes from the family I grew up in, where everyone just screamed at each other and belittled one another. It truly was toxic, and I subconsciously picked it up. NOT an excuse, but it helps to understand why I am the way I am. I will pray that God will help me through this with the Holy Spirit. Thank you so much Allen!

I clicked on this because I need help taming my tongue. It has hurt some feelings of lately. Not knowing the implications that it may have on someone. Even though I say I’m sorry, and they may forgive me. These people will never forget. Now I can’t help but think about what I said every time I see these people. I guess this is god showing me humility.

While we are absolutely forgiven for our sins, unfortunately they can have life-long consequences. God will of course forgive us and so often will the people we hurt, but He doesn't always spare us of the repercussions. We must be very careful with our tongues; it's wonderful that you recognize that you need help, I'm here rewatching this for the same reason. I hope that you've made a lot of progress and are doing much better! Check out Dr. Charles Stanley's sermons called "The Danger of Anger", Wretched Radio has fantastic videos on anger too if that's the cause of your words.

I'm also going to study my Heavenly Father's word about the pitfalls of an untamed tongue vs. the benefits a godly one. Thank you for this excellent, straightforward teaching and advice. I agree and disagree. We live in an age where people hold their feelings on their shoulders. People choose to remember what they want to remember about you. There have been times where what a person has said to me has really hurt me at the time BUT God has turned it around for my good. There have been times when I say an encouraging word to someone, and he or she just throws it down. I think that sometimes, it also has to do with how the other person is receiving what you say. Yes, I agree that we should be gentle, BUT that does NOT guarantee that the person still not get offended. These days, people are easily offended by even the slightest compliment.

I needed to hear this, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. When I was young and I would try and speak up it would become a tounge twister or I would have trouble getting across what I was trying to say.not to mention being called stupid? Retarded? Dumb? Every name in the book. So I reached a point where I thought I'm better staying quiet. But I still had a lot to say just never said it. Know I'm speaking out and it tends to get me in hot water. Not only that? But those closest to me rarely take me seriously because they just look at my past even when I know I'm right. I can give them any sort of factual information and they come back every time with. Who said that? Where did you hear that?and if I don't remember who said it? What time they said it? What day they said it? Or word for word? It's invalid

It always makes me cringe hearing "goddamn" it bugs me more than any other profane word and idk how i can touch the subject politely but firmly. Edit: And if i dont speak up I feel like Ive let God down by being silent idk am i just overthinking it too much?

I hope you have gotten some guidance on this already, but if not I hope I can help a little. The simplest thing to do is to let them know how it makes you feel. It still won't be easy, but a conversation has to happen. "Hey man, can I tell you something that's really important to me? *Wait for an answer* Because of my beliefs, when people curse around me, it makes me feel like xyz." They might laugh at you. They might criticize you for your beliefs. They might truly respect you and your decisions even though they don't believe the same thing and they may adjust their behavior around you. There's no blanket answer of how to handle these situations, because the people and the circumstances will change. You may have to make the decision to not be around that friend/family as often. I'll be praying for you, and I hope and pray that God will place people in your life that you can consistently talk to and grow with through these types of things.

As long as we live in this world and in the flesh this will ALWAYS be a struggle. We're instructed to speak the truth IN LOVE. It's easy to thoughtlessly say true things to another person but that's like doing neurosurgery with a sledge hammer--- and no anesthesia. Been there done that more times than l care to count. Then the other person is offended and the opportunity to help them is squandered. I've been on both sides of this equation. It's certainly easier to dish out the harshness than it is to receive it. The devil uses unkindness to claim multiple victims and bring discord to the body of Christ. We have to remember who the REAL ENEMY is. We are members one of another and Jesus said to do unto others as we'd want them to do to us. It takes self-control to think through not only WHAT l plan to say but HOW l'm going to say it. Forgiving one another is crucial in this area. Because we ALL make MANY mistakes. Love keeps no record of wrongs. I've had some verbal brawls with brothers in the past who are now some of my best and closest friends in Christ. We laugh about those arguments now because we've forgiven each other and we've matured by the grace of God.

Jesus Freak sorry for a late reply. 1. Pray for her! Very important. Please pray for her. Talk to her about. I know it may be nerve-wracking, but remember she's your sister. Talk to her. Tell her what may happen if she doesn't go to the word.

This was me growing up. Stay strong and true to your faith. You must lead/ show the example. It gets tough. Family is the hardest obstacle when you are a lone Christian. My own mother resented and abused me but she couldn't break me.... now nobody can, I'm stronger than most because of that. You will see it later in life. God bless you

@@cmo_rocks I would like to show you this. Luke 14:33 "So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple." Luke 12:33-34 "[33] Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth. [34] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Matthew 6:19-21 "[19] Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: [21] For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Matthew 6:24-34 "[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. [25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? [26] Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? [27] Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? [28] And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: [29] And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? [31] Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. [34] Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matthew 28:19-20 "[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20],Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments." John 14:21, 23-24 "[21] He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. [23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. [24] He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me." John 6:27 "Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed." We must obey Jesus, as Christians. Stop working for money, for the food and drink that perishes! Did Jesus work for money? Did Paul? Did Peter? Did John? No, and for those that had done it, like Peter, they left all and followed Jesus. We *need* to do this too. Matthew 7:21 "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Matthew 6:24 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Quit your job and work for God! He *commands* us to do this! Our eternal destination depends greatly on this thing.
