This was a step back to my Hippie roots of the late 60's and early 70's! No one bought rv's then, everyone created one from school buses. There were some really tripped out ones even with wood stoves and bunkbeds! Way cool thanks for the vid! Peace

We did the same thing, but turned it into a ATV and dirt bike hauler. left the front 3 rows of seats and opened the back for the ATVs and bikes. worked great.

I don't understand why people have to go out of there way to be assholes . if you didn't like the video then don't watch it. these guys are making a dream become a reality. if they didn't do it the way you would do it then you do it differently. so much energy lately has been spent trying to be negative try turning some of that energy into something positive!!! good luck guys I hope you finish the bus and it looks like you're doing a great job

Unless you never intend to go to any place cold, you going to need moisture barrier. You know, the plastic thing that goes between foam and wood panel, which prevent moisture from forming on the metal skin, thus leading to mold.

the reason the band saw blade kept popping off was bc it was binding due to the weight of the bench pinching the blade. why did you cut them all off only to unbolt them?

An angle grinder on the bolt heads and I had 14 rows of seats out in about two hours by myself. Mine was a Thomas.

Doesn't anyone realize all they need to do is unscrew the bolts holding the seats down. If they do that they can save time and money and reduce the risk of injury
@hankandtilly
9 жыл бұрын
You ever done that? It's WAY faster to cut the seats out. The bolts are often hidden and too hard to access. On some of mine, the nuts were pressed up so tightly to cross members there was no way to get a wrench in.

@gseufzer We did take the bus on tour last summer, and we did insure it. Im not sure of all the details, I know it was a six month deal, and I also know we got Triple A and that helped out SOOO much when we broke down. ( we broke down once driving up a mountain) overheated the engine...

I have the same bus. does yours have a cummins turbo diesel? everybody always cuts off the seats at the legs when thats completely uneccesary. why didn't you just unbolt the seats from the bus? not too mention you can sell the seats. I immediately sold 9 of the seats to someone on craigslist at 20 bucks a pop. I like some other things you guys did with the bus. but im just saying it waste more time, and completely renders the seats useless...

removing the seats by removing the bolts would have been a better way to go. you create less risk of an injury. the seats could be reused. the "no room for a wrench" argument is moot considering those leftover legs had to be removed after you cut them anyway. we all need to stop considering things as disposable.

Who ever decided the music has no taste. I almost didn't watch before I decided to hit mute. Ughhhhh so annoying. Y'all did a fine job but some pointers. The band saw was a good effort but pointless and costed you the resale value of the seats. Next time use a socket and rachet. Sell the seats. Also from a framing aspect ( I did framing for 2.3 years) you should lay the subfloor before erecting walls. Then run plumbing and electrical. Then insulting walls and closing them off with Sheetrock. Not to be negative but constructing a home has been done this way a long time. A lot of trail and error. You can learn from the mistakes of others in the past and around you or you can learn from yours.
