Some generational (old) steel jerry cans, whilst they look obsolete, can be re-purposed to become useful again.
My jerry cans were not leaking but the newer poly/plastic jerry cans are a little more forgiving and lighter. Our Matrix Caravan (as are most AOR caravans) is notoriously heavy.
Last weigh I had 342 kgs on the ball. Removing the front jerry (full of fuel) reduced the ball weight by almost 40 kgs. But hey, I gotta use the jerry can holders, right?
Out come the steel jerry cans and hey presto, 2 new storage containers for light stuff like chocks, hoses and the like. But wait, the Boss wants to try something.
She has a wet (read dry) bag. She has researched washing clothes on the road and says if she puts laundry in the bag with some water and detergent, and places that in a jerry can that may be an effective way to wash clothes.
Ahhh, but me thinks that's okay, but, at the other end the clothes still need rinsing and wringing. Ohh well, that part of the joys of travelling on the road, hey?

Post note, thanks Heath 👍
I ought have mentioned the jerry cans are fuel containers. So if you choose to cut them then you should ensure you know how to do that safely. Cutting fuel containers without the requisite knowledge of how to cut them, and more importantly, how to make them safe may be catastrophic.
My video is for illustrative purposes only.
