Interesting video. Did a whole camp coffee series and have brewed it many ways, but this way is very unique, much like the cowboy coffee that I'm used to except without the boiling water. Like the lower heat source too. Surprised however that you have not be taught the spoon against the can, pot, cup or whatever the coffee was in. At camp we'd brew enough for about three to four quarts of coffee at a time. Taking a big spoon and banging the side of the pot makes the grounds settle as it vibrates them down. You can do the same thing with that spork of yours along the side of the cup... Give it a try I know it works as I too have brewed in small cup.

When I was much much younger and living at home, my Dad was given a bag of freshly ground coffee, which he brought home. I can remember us all standing in the kitchen trying to figure out how to cook it. Dad, having been in the army, knew to throw some grounds in the saucepan into which he‘d put cold water and cooked it up. Up until then we‘d only ever drunk Camp (liquid) coffee 😆. The fresh stuff tasted good, but we were picking grounds out of our teeth afterwards. Great video by the way.

I remember Camp from my childhood, is it still made? I guess it has gone out of fashion,

Humble Trekker don't know if Camp is still available in the shops. As you say, it's gone out of fashion especially now as Starbucks and the like are taking over the High Streets. Just fyi, some months ago, I dusted off my camping percolator and have been making perc coffee every morning. It certainly sets you up for the day. Looking forward to more of your videos.

Approved ! I had the opportuniy to drink coffee brewed this way by a Portuguese collegue two weeks ago, and it's absolutely wonderful. The cold water thing works, the trick is to pour it very slowly in a circular manner (and to add very little of it)

The trick to cowboy coffee, as taught to me by an old time cowboy, is to barely bring it to a boil, quickly remove from heat for a few seconds, replace and boil again, then repeat a third time. Third times the charm! lol

I was wondering how you were going to get all those coffee grounds out of that. Now I know just a little bit of cold water added a sink to the bottom. Thanks for sharing brother.

we swedes only drink our coffee strong or stronger and the only additive we use is a hint of milk and a sugar cube if you want to be fancy. flavored coffee is not coffee if you dont like coffee then dont ruin it with weird flavors.

unless you going to brew the coffee for a reasonable lengths if time? like cowboy coffee technique does the grounds are best kept seperated from waterflow during percolation if you want a quickie and kept in a seperated chamber or filter from the hot water as coffee grounds if uncooked thoroughly tends to float or sink and become bitter in flavor the last dregs should be avoided if it sinks?!! last person to swig from the pot can verify that!! the cowboy methods is pretty good cuz longer the rolling boil on it the tenderer the coffee bean becomes and the longer the duration of the period that you percolate it gently the less bitter the beans become!! the longer the brew is left to percolate freely generally speaking the smoother the flavor of the coffee afterwards as long as correct heat is applied the bitterer grounds will sink and you just avoid them when pot begins to empty out you place em on a rock or log for the chipmunks or squirrels to eat as you swig yer coffee down hopefully smoothly cuz you left it a good ole while in the simmering water to smooth out those acids in the bean!! cooked them out leeched them out of the bean by adequate time immersed in the simmering percolation!!! yer beans should be spongy afterwards not firm or gritty so well leeched or thoroughly cooked out a lot of folks can tends to take the beans off the heat or perk far too early the grounds remain unfully cooked and acids are left in the bean leading to a lousy cup of coffee instead of a rich smooth one in which the coffee bean acids have been fully blended into the perk or leeched out of the bean sinking the grind to the bottom occurs naturally once it has been given awarded sufficient length of time in the perk & not taken off a bit to early which retains sometimes a bit too much of the acids from in the bean retained in the brew!! you needs to cook or brew those out until the grind has reached its optimal level of smoothness a smooth coffee is often a long brew! not a shorter one unless you have fancy machines which obviously you dont out in the woods as an alternative to cold water you can wakk in a cold stone to the pot or billy! acts same way as the cold water trick except not as or so fussy!! you still try to avoid the dregs even on a long duration brewed coffee!!?unless yer last into camp of cse then everybody likes to watch the last late person swig up the last of the grind!! as theyve all had theirs earlier & had it nicer much smoother!!! looks a nice coffee good bag youll be marketing authentic swedish matches next!!

How to make traditional swedish coffee, use a very coarse grind of coffee, start with fresh cold water, add the coffee to taste, 2 table spoons per person for a large cup is a good rule of thumb. don't stir, simmer the coffee for a minimum of 5 minutes, dont let it boil

everyone is entitled to an opinion but I consulted with the biggest coffee companies and experts in Sweden before making the video and the method I demonstrate is the most common method. there is many more than one way to make coffee.

Hi, I contacted Gevalia, Löfbergs, annd Nordqvist and asked them. I realise making coffee is a sensitive subject. That is why I contacted the experts. This was the method they all agreed was the most common. So it is not my expertise you are questioning it is 3 coffee companies that have combined 100´s years of experience of coffee. just because you make coffee your way doesn't make it the most common method in Sweden. I asked the 3 biggest coffee companies in Sweden, and their combined knowledge gave the answer I showed in the video
