Have you tried cooking without shucking? When done, you cut off the stalk end and squeeze the corn out from the hair end with a tea towel to protect your fingers and no picking hair out of the kernels.

If you are talking about the outer part of the roaster and the pan, none.

How much water do you use for a full pan of corn?

3 cups of water is good for at least 12 ears of corn. For a full pan I 4 to 5 cups would work just fine.
