Is that a glazed pot or is it unglazed? Ive recently gotten into primitive pottery and im wanting to try and cook beans in one of the pots ive made. None of them are glazed though just fired in a large fire. Your pot looks glazed but also looks like it could have been just dipped clay before it was fired for a smoothe finish
@NoWayJoseCuisine
11 ай бұрын
Mine is not glazed but I’d rather have an unglazed one honestly, you have to season a unglazed pot tho, there is different ways for it, with salted water, tubing fresh garlic and heat it up, with cooking oil on the heat and probably many more. Unglazed pots will give a better flavor! The steam won’t circulate the same as on a glazed pot and also the water will be absorbed faster and you will have to add more water more often. Glazed pots also absorbe the heat evenly.

How do you season/prepare/cure your BRAND NEW pot for its very first use?
@NoWayJoseCuisine
6 ай бұрын
i just rinse it off with water, then rub fresh garlic on the parts that have no coating, the out side on the bottom, if there is a lid, do in and out side. put it in the burner preferably fire/gas on low and fill it up with water and add more garlic cloves, when water is hot, add 2-3 tbsp of baking soda and leave it on the fire for an hour. turn it off and let it cool down completely, then drain the water and rinse off and wsh with soap. this process needs to be done one time only before using the brand new pots.
