I just finished the changing the coolant on my FZ6N 2006. My overflow tank was at the back of the motor near the back spring under the tank. Thanks for the vid helped me alot, but I spilled alot of flued when I realed the coolant cap... It was a heavy flow. Drained it, flushed it twice, ran the the motor a bit and filled it up a bit and flushed it with the new coolant. Then filled it up and ran the motor for 5min with some revving to get all the air out. Then closed it all up. Thanks for your video, helped alot.

I love your videos man! Ive learned so much from them on maintaining my FZ6. Im changing out my coolant as we speak. It was very brown so for my first flush I used distilled water and distilled vinegar to descale it a bit. Waiting now to do maybe another 1 to 2 flushes with distilled water. Easy job but its a bit of a waiting game and its messier than I thought haha.

Maintenance book I got for the bike instructed to flush the system through the pumps drain while topping up with tap water with hose until the water coming out is clear & do this every 3 years.

I’ll be subscribing and hope you can drop some more knowledge on maintaining an fz6, thank you sir! I’ve only had my bike for under a month so maybe I’ve gotten used to bad spark plugs and will get to enjoy the bike running much better! Hopefully will see tmw

I think tou should use some dis water , to clean the system first , remove the cooland , put water in the radiator , start the motorcycle , leave the bike running until the pump starts kicking in to have a good recirculation , Shut off the bike , wait till it cools down , then start putting fresh cooling in it like you did

Hey, great video! I did all the same as you did in the video. Still, my coolant won't move from the radiator to the reservoir. My radiator is full, the tubes and cap seems alright. Any idea what it could be? Water pump? And should I add coolant to the reservoir?

Is that drain bolt on water pump the only point we need to drain besides overflow? I know on my my 85 maxim there were like 3-4 different drain locations. I really wish I could find a physical shop manual for this bike.

Drain and refill to max line. It’s handy to have a syringe or turkey baster to get the fluid out.

Hello People, I have a question, the manual said that i need 2.25 L of coolant but i only needed 1.75L approx. do u thing that something is wrong?
@Calvinm
3 жыл бұрын
No there’s probably nothing wrong. There is probably some coolant hiding in the inner passages of the engine that can’t be emptied out without flipping the engine upside down and shaking 😅

Do you think the noise your cam chain is making is normal for the bike? I have a similar noise but not that loud and its making me crazy. So what's your thought on that?
@Calvinm
4 жыл бұрын
Hey Benjamin, ya I think the noise of my bike is typical for this kind of bike. It's a 16 valve solid lifter valve train that's chain driven, it's bound to be ticky. I had my cylinder head off about 20,000km's ago and I checked/adjusted the valve lash on the the valves to be within spec (service claims this should be done every 40k km's) while the head was off. I also checked my chain tensioner, timing chain guides and sprockets and all were in good condition. If your bike is around or past 40,000km's I would consider checking your valve lash since even a couple thousands of an inch of extra valve lash can make the bike more ticky and noisy. The original hydraulic chain tensioners rarely fail on these bikes, and when they do it's very noticeable. Good luck, and if you have any other questions you can shoot me a message on instagram @freeheadgasket

Removing the engine guard is not a difficult procedure. You just need the right tools, as I’ve done it many times when changing the oil and oil filter. Time, patience and tools.

It would be a good idea to drain it and fill it with fresh coolant. A syringe comes in handy for that. 👍

I’m not sure what brand it is exactly, because it was on the bike when I bought it but it looks similar to the Givi TN358 or the SW-Motech. Hope that helps! 👍
