Here is a tip that would work to remove old wrapping. Try using a seam ripper used for sewing. Just use the ball covered end against the canvas so it will not catch and make a hole in it. Another thought as well is for the tall wig heads is to use a produce bag from the store that they use during the summer for corn. It is extra long so you would only need 1 bag to cover the whole head. It is a thicker bag but it does melt nicely. I haven't tried any of these ideas but they did pop into my head while watching the video.

Hi Bobbie! Saw your older video on this before but had to cover a few new blocks so I thought I'd watch your new one. For the long necks I use 2 gallon bags on Amazon (brand = Propack, don't think I'm allowed to put links in comments) and although there's a little more excess to be taped down, it covers the entire block like the 1 gallons cover the regular length blocks. Thought I'd comment in case it was of any interest. Thanks for making tutorials!!!

Hey Bobby! Just discovered your channel - nice work - *gives thumbs up*. Quick question - I've used glad wrap and tape in the past but always open to a more efficient method so will give this a whirl. if you needed to pad the block at all would you put the padding in as a base layer post-bag/pre-tape? Cheers, :)
@WigginOutBZ
7 жыл бұрын
This method is definitely thinner than the glad wrap, so it's easier to pin into. I've never freehand padded out a block, I've only ever used a hairline tracing to do it. I'll cover the block first and add the tracing and then pad it out.

Great question, since it's thin plastic and tape that's melted down it's adding teeny tiny fractions of an inch to the circumference, but not enough to make the block size larger.

Hi there, I just used this method to protect my wig block but it has got mould and water damage all over it from setting wigs. I think it’s from the pinning of the wigs and the water has gone through those holes. How to I fix it and what do you suggest to protect it in the future
@WigginOutBZ
3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... I've never experienced any mold on a covered block, but I do always put mine in a dryer cabinet to dry the wigs which might be why. I would suggest doing this covering for all blocks to protect them and adding an additional bag (not tapped down) anytime you're putting a soaking wet wig on a block or washing on the block. This extra bag will help keep water from getting into the existing holes in the covering. I'd also suggest when double covering a block, that every pin you put in place needs to stay there until the wig is completed and ready to unblock. If you put a pin in and take it out, you get a hole in the second bag which will allow more water to get under the covering. If that makes any sense?
@saphron7234
3 жыл бұрын
@@WigginOutBZ yes that makes total sense thankyou! Also do you suggest investing in a steamer to set synthetic wigs? I think my main problem with it was that I pour the water on as I don’t own a steamer which may have caused a lot of water getting into the block. But yes I will do the re wrapping every time I block a wig☺️ Thankyou x
@WigginOutBZ
3 жыл бұрын
@@saphron7234 Totally invest in a steamer if you're able! When pouring boiling water over a wig, it's best to angle the head as you pour so the water is concentrated on the rollers and not being poured directly onto the block.

Hey, I had to get part of my head shaved for surgery so bought a few wigs online. The one that perfectly matched my real hair style was too thick & not enough lace. I tried to comment when you posted this, and it wouldn't let me. eBay or AliExpress are the cheapest options out there, but sometimes (like what happened with this one) you don't receive the correct item! I would measure the wig block you received and reach out to the seller to see if they can exchange it (if you haven't used it) for the correct size! As an older vendor I know sometimes the wrong item can get sent out in an order, so it may have just been a mistake!

I've never done it, so it's maybe worth a try? Just be careful not to wrap too many layers around before you seal it down with tape, it would probably end up being too bulky and hard to pin into it. I also don't know if the saran wrap will shrink down with heat like the plastic bag does.

@WigginOutBZ

There really isn't a way to remove the stains since the inside is cork, it would absorb any water or cleaning products and may mildew. BUT you do have some options to hide it! You can drape tissue paper over the block before you cover it, or use a colored plastic shopping bag instead of the vegetable bag (I did this once with a purple bag and it turned out great!) OR you can cut the legs off a pair of tights and stretch that over the head too.

Hi do you have a video on how to customize your wig head? I ordered a 21' inch canvas head, my head measured 21.5, and I have a lot of hair that I braid up under my wigs so the 21 inch is too small, I don't want to order 22 inches and it's too big...
@WigginOutBZ
7 жыл бұрын
I don't have a video showing how, I'm sorry. Is your measurement 21.5 with your hair down or with your hair already braided up? If that is your down measurement, you should braid your hair up first and then remeasure for the correct size since your hair will always be braided up under the wig and now down. The "custom wig company" channel here on youtube has a video showing how to do a hairline tracing, which makes an exact copy of your head. Which you then put onto a canvas block and stuff with fiberfill.
@bribbhy
7 жыл бұрын
Oh no worries, I just thought I would ask. I saw your comment on another channel, I love your content. The 21.5 measurement is with my hair already braided up actually, that's the measurement around my head but doesn't account for the back of my head, which I know is bigger than the canvas head because I have a lot of hair braided up. I will check on that channel, thank you for such a quick reply!
@WigginOutBZ
7 жыл бұрын
Gotcha! I understand better now. Is there a way to distribute the braids along your head so they aren't concentrated in one spot along the back? That would probably help the wigs fit a bit better too. And when you take your circumference measurement, take one along where a headband would sit (probably what your 21.5 measurement is) and take another along where a hat would sit to see if that measurement is vastly different. If it is significantly larger you may have to either do the hairline tracing and pad it out on your 21 inch block, or buy a larger block entirely!
