In this video, we share with you our tips on how to make a great listing on RVshare. Creating a good listing is very important to a successful RV rental business because it will help you attract the right renters for your unit and help you rank better in the search results pages. It’s our job at RVshare to find the best possible match for a renter and we do that from both the information provided on your listing page as well as what renters are looking for.
You will learn that your RV listing is going to be broken up into two main areas; written information and visual information.
Starting with the written information there will be three key subareas: RV Details, Amenities, Title and Description.
Your RV Details are going to be all of the baseline information about your RV like the year, make, model, and size of your RV. This information is needed for renters to quickly assess whether your RV is right for their functional needs.
Your RV Amenities are going to be anything that your RV features like kitchen supplies, linens, sleeping arrangements, entertainment options, and anything extra that is included in the nightly rate. This is where it starts to vary depending on the owner and you may adjust through trial and error but by providing the basic amenities you remove more obstacles that separate your renters from their dream vacation and you’ll find people are happy to pay for that kind of convenience.
Your description is a written paragraph you can use to market your RV to renters and reduce questions you might receive later. Use this section as the place to convince them why they should stay at your RV over another one similar. A good exercise would be to think about when you were looking for your RV. What did you need to know in order to plan your vacations? What do you love about using your RV? These are the same things the renters want to know.
But if you really want to make your RV stand out as special, you can go beyond the basics and add fun bonuses that make a camping trip more memorable. This is the chance for you to get creative and thoughtful with your rental and believe us, renters appreciate the extra care and effort and this should show up in your reviews. If you do this make sure to add it to your description and pictures.
You should remember that a picture is worth a thousand words. Having good photos is not only important for the renter to visually understand your RV’s space but it’s important because it also factors into your ranking, which factors into your performance.
But some of the most important things to know is that photos are the first impression a renter has of your vehicle so you’ll want it looking its best. This means cleaning it, staging it, and getting pictures in good, ideally natural, lighting. You want people to imagine themselves in your living space so make sure to take more pictures than you think.
In total, we recommend you have a minimum of 20 pictures of the inside and outside of your vehicle but feel free to add as many as you can. You never know what might catch a renter's eye and we do not have a limit on how many you can add.
Some of you may be asking, what about add-ons & upsells, what are they and should you include them in your listing? These are the inclusions that you can provide at an extra cost to the renter but are completely optional. So start with things that you think are great to have on an RV trip but maybe not necessary.
Finally, you'll learn that most travelers are working within a specific budget so you'll have to find the right balance in setting the price of your RV. The first step to figuring out your price is to search other owners with similar RVs in your local area, preferably ones that already have reviews, to figure out what is the average price on the market. If you’re new to listing and don’t have reviews yet, it’s a good idea start a bit lower than the average going rate in order to get the ball rolling. And it’s also important to consider the season that you're currently in to help determine the price.
Once you’ve established yourself you can reevaluate your price and adjust for seasonality as needed.
