Cheers for this wonderful tutorial Dev Ed! I just want to add, for anyone developing this in a mac, :focus won't trigger when the button is clicked and this has been an issue ever since. You can trigger :focus by pressing 'tab' (or 'shift+tab'). Another thing, this may be a nitpick but please put border-radius:5px inside li just to keep the rounded rect consistent.

Hallo Simo, I am very thankful for this tutorial. Btw: I found a small issue and I'd like to make a suggestion: On hover the first and last children (li) get an angular-shaped corner (the first child top-left and -right / the last child bottom-left and right). We can probably fix this with: .projects li:first-child:hover, .products li:first-child:hover { border-radius: 5px 5px 0px 0px; } .projects li:last-child:hover, .products li:last-child:hover { border-radius: 0px 0px 5px 5px; } Thanks for your motivation and your great personality. Till your next tutorial.. btw: what happend to your plan to move to canada? Greetings from cold germany, Adam

Hey, great video!! Keep up the good work. One thing though, when you do the border-radius, and then add the background for the li-s on hover, it cancels out the border-radius when you hover it, quick fix could be the first and last child should have a border-top-right/left and border-bottom-right/left-radius specified respectively.

@mhb12x80
3 жыл бұрын
there's a solution for that but tbh it's quite long and takes some valuable time but I'll explain it to you: first : give the first and the last different classes second: select those classes independently in css and add hover to both fo them third: give the first border radius from the top-left and top-right equal to the bdr -radius of the main fourth: give the last one border-radius the opposit sides bottom-left & bttm-right and keep the values equal here you go ; Contact me please ! ;
@Odrin92
3 жыл бұрын
@@mhb12x80 Hey, thanks for the reply! I tried it and it works fine. However while working on it (and after watching some more tutorials!) I have found another solution: Instead of giving different classes to the first and last element, you can leave html file intact and modify just the CSS. I used :first-child and :last-child pseudo classes: .projects li:hover:first-child, .products li:hover:first-child {} and .projects li:hover:last-child, .products li:hover:last-child {} and gave them the border radiuses only on the top (first-child) and only on the bottom (last-child). This way you can simply add or remove elements to the dropdown menu without the need to remember to change classes on the Still, there is a thing with the animation - when you hover over those element, the sharp border corners are visible for the moment and then they are rounded during the hover color change animation. Now I am looking for a way to make them appear rounded immediately, and then playing the color change animation.

I'm having some difficulty. My links inside the dropdown menu are not working. I know it has to do with the property 'pointer-events`. The focus is working has intended and it showing the dropdown menu and the hovered li's are changing colors. So I should be able to click the link, but the moment I do, it seems to lose focus and disable 'pointer-events` since the button is no longer focused. I did convert majority of the css in this video into scss and I might have an issue with scss file, but everything is working besides this one things. So I feel like that is unlikely. I can post a git repo upon request.
