The Frank and Joan Rothman Lecture was presented by Jane A. “Jenny” Driver, M.D. MPH ’ 90.5 during Reunion Weekend 2023. Dr. Driver is an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, co-director of the Older Adult Hematologic Malignancy Program at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and chief of Geriatrics and Extended Care Services at VA Boston Healthcare System. Over 90% of Americans wish to age in place and avoid nursing homes, but most do not have access to the homecare that can make this possible. The pandemic has exposed the weaknesses and inequities of our current long-term care industry, opening the door to change. Dr. Driver’s work is part of a growing national movement aimed at creating Age-Friendly Healthcare Systems that can maximize “home time” for older adults. Watch to learn what you can do to promote aging in place and make it accessible to all.
