Thank you for the informative presentations, very useful. Just a heads up on data content and why it is important to pay attention to detail, otherwise your audience has just been dazzled by the visuals but not really understood the message: at 8:10 you are comparing two charts and want to make a point of why it is important to compare apples with apples. Two issues here: first, a percentage is always a number per 100 ("per-cent"), so you probably meant 5.9 persons per 100,000, not "5.9 percent per 100,000" as said. Second, the bottom chart actually does not show that it is per 100,000, so leaves the viewer guessing if there is no voice with the visual (which there usually is not, in case of infographics), as it may as well be per 100 or per million. So actually, your example shows a change from a difficult to interpret chart to a chart that cannot be interpreted (for lack of all necessary data). I know this may seem a detail to some viewers, but when showing charts and proving the point that it is important to depict the right figures, it was a futile exercise if nobody actually noticed this mistake. Just my 2 cents ;)

So you cannot just pick a topic and make an infographic? To make a good infographic, you need to find a topic that fits the criteria of a good narrative and surprising conclusion? For my first infographic I wanted to make an infographic that summarizes a chapter of a book "What makes a good tests?" to share with my peers as an educational infograph but that does not seem to fit the criteria you gave. It feels like the the one type I could make from the summary is an Informational List which as pointed out to be a weak type of infographic.

I wouldn't use the word thesis, because its misleading and arcane. Thesis is an academic term used to propose what one is trying to prove through research. You really aren't doing research, you are presenting facts from someone else's research most likely. Instead, use the terms 'subject' and 'supporting data.'

I know this comment was from a year ago, but did you ever learn why this comment made no sense? I can make you an infographic (thanks @Visme) showing you the paradoxical implications of the word arcane, but I assume it’d be lost on you.
