Thank you Riverside, this is super helpful. Question: Can you link me to a good video tutorial that explains the most fluid / seamless way to toggle between talking head and screensharing "real time" during a recording? Thank you!
@Riversidefm
Жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful! Are you talking about the screen share settings inside the Riverside studio? If you’re looking to share static images or slides, out new Presentation recorder may be a good fit. Or it’s possibly to use a video switcher like the ATEM Mini Pro as the “camera” in Riverside which allows you to switch even faster.

Thank you, this is really helpful. How far should we keep the camera while shooting talking head video?
@Riversidefm
10 ай бұрын
You're welcome! That depends on the kind of camera or lens you are using. If it's a mobile device, I would suggest 2-3 feet away. For lenses around 35mm, I'd say 4-5 feet. And longer lenses will depend on the zoom!

Been loving your content! Thinking about doing a solo podcast and love to know what you are using to slide over video and add text to the screen in your videos. Is this a feature in Riversidefm or some other program or effect? Thanks for all the content 😁

Thanks for saying so! I edit all my content in Final Cut Pro, many of the overlays are made in-house, but I do use some motion plugins and animations from Motion VFX!

Great video. Question - Lets say I am shooting a talking head video where I am centered within the middle of the frame and looking directly at the camera (like you did in this video) as "angle one". What if I want to add a second angle to the video where I shoot everything I just said again (like a second full video shoot that I would give to my video producer to mix in) - we can call that "angle two". Should that second angle (angle two) be me looking AWAY from the camera and shot from a slight off center position and closer in, or should I still be looking directly AT the camera even in the second angle (angle two) shot? Local news casts seem to change angles but the speaker is still always still looking at the camera directly. Can you make a recommendation please? It is OK to shoot the second angle with me looking away like an interview situation and mix that in with the first angle which is directly centered and me looking at the camera. Or would that be weird?

Thanks! Great question, and I think you can do it either way. It's up to your preference. But I would suggest, is possible, film the second angle simultaneously as the A-Roll. Maybe use a mobile device as the second angle, but record that at the same time, then it will be much easier to put it all together in a multi-cam clip in Premiere or Final Cut. Then I would experiment, talk to the first camera the entire time and see how you like the "looking away" shot, then do another take where you speak to the first camera for a portion of the video, pause, turn to the second camera, and speak directly to that one. Then in editing you can cut back and forth, always looking into the camera throughout.

It's odd that in a video about making captivating videos, I clicked out because I was annoyed by the amount of references to links in the description. This felt more like an attempt to sell products rather than information.

For that we would recommend blurring a face, but still use good lighting 🙂
