Wow! That’s dedication. By the time the season is over you’ll finally have it mapped to where you can catch some🤩

Dude -> beg, borrow or steal a boat before ice-up. Soooooooooo much easier. Good on ya for trying though.

I know. literally 2 seconds on the boat and that same map size is done. hahaha

Pretty tough getting a boat half mile through the woods. We’ve mapped backwoods lakes with kayaks even but sometimes it’s easier to hoof with a 24v, graph and rods and do it in the winter. Or even if you just happen to be out on a lake and there is no map. You just map as you hole hop. Doin it from a boat is great advice but hot always an option.

i will drag a canoe in if i have to. I head out and troll the lake until i have it mapped out. If i catch fish, i mark it. do this for 3 or 4 lakes a year in my area!

This is exactly what i plan to do with my helix 10 gps g3n , so in ice mode, i can leave it in autochart on while hole hoping and only it only registers a depth once i hit mark? I read somewhere to be careful because the ducer could read 300ft walking between holes, is that not the case? Any info is greatly appreciated thanks!

None of our lakes we fish here in sask are on lakemasters, and i don't have a boat and although time consuming, we hole hop some steep ridges any mapping would help

Took a 5 minute edit to show a small section. Can't imagine how long this would take even for a small lake. I guess it only takes a few seconds more than just drilling and checking depths anyway.

The lake ended up have a pretty tapering basin. So even over a great distance there wasn't much to look at. Its pretty cool when you do this over complex structures.
