Well, this was very informative AND entertaining! AND timing was perfect without tons of lag time or moments where I usually think “just get on with it!” On other videos. Glad I found your channel and will be back for more! Thanks!

so glad I found your channel. Just placed an Alibaba order for tumblers and this video was linked to that video so I thought I would check it out. I recently sublimated some trucker hats and thought the same thing as you. Did not like the foamy quality and it didn't really look like a hat I or my husband would wear. I only bought 12 to try and the first 3 were failures as I learned the time and temp for my heat press. I thought that the only way to salvage them would be to vinyl over them with dark colors or sew a patch over the failed sublimation images. Thanks to your video, I now have another option that I like even better. I will check out my hobby lobby on the way home to see if they have the supplies. Thanks again for all your information and sound advice.

Some people use E-6000 and swear by it. I just like the way the adhesive makes it more like a real patch! My advice on a hat patch. Get a decent one from a place like Heat Press Nation or Pro World and not Amazon or EBay. Mine is a pain. Thank you for watching!

Hey! Thank you! I don’t sell the patches, and it’s interesting, I’ll be doing an updated sublimation patches for hats and other things this month (or early next month!). I haven’t thought about selling them, but maybe I could. Let me think about that. I’ll address it in the video! Thanks for watching!

Yes, fraying is challenging! I found that seeing the edges helped, along with trying to individually grab each strand and pull the length. Of, and patience! Thanks for watching!

New to sublimation… is there a specific paper you use, or is it just the special ink?
@industrialfringe953

Welcome to the wonderful (and often frustrating) world of sublimation! Yes, paper matters. Check out my sub paper comparison video. kzitem.info/news/bejne/unufqHiom2aEpm0 (I used regular paper in the test, and I don’t recommend it!) Thanks for watching!

Using the adhesive backing - should this not prevent any further fraying, therefore not having to use Fray check liquid?

Patrick, I’m not sure. I’m not overly familiar with the different options. I researched and found the one I used in the video. For any others, I suggest finding one you can get, then research if it will work. I’m sorry I can’t be of any better help. Thanks for watching!

Great info But I have a Question. So if you’ve already sublimated the ink on the material, aren’t you just applying the patch to the hat through the glue process in the last step? Easier to do with a small iron if that’s what you are truly doing.
@industrialfringe953
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you’re absolutely right, you’re just applying heat to the adhesive to get it to bond with the hat. I used to use an iron, but it took several minutes to get all the sections, and it was an endurance test for me to push down with a lot of pressure for several hats! I actually originally purchased an iron just for that! I definitely prefer a press over an iron. There are also people out there that use fabric glue to apply them as well. I can’t vouch for that process, but I’ve been told it works great. Thanks for watching!

Great video! Did you print using an inkjet printer?
@industrialfringe953
2 жыл бұрын
Hey, Lisa! Thank you! Yes, I use an Epson Workforce 7710 inkjet printer “converted” to use sublimation ink. The sublimation ink turns into a gas when heated and fuses into the material, so it’s not sitting on top like vinyl. Thanks for watching!
